So what's wrong with setting the expectation higher? What's the difference (in pressure) with setting the expectation of winning the league vs wining the CL? Both are achievable. Prioritize one over the other. We have enough gold stars and coppas...we should be aiming for the CL.
nothing is wrong..
you need strong mentality and balls to do it..
and all you hear from the players who join.
(you sense the difference from the first day you come here.. this club is strong in all aspects blah blah blah)
while we know that we have a weak mentality, at least in Europe. hope the last game will serve us good.

AA cannot just state in front of the squad that CL is the main goal this season. He has to run a transfer campaign that will speak for it.

Lol

But for realz, he needs to make his message clear in the mercato. Otherwise he better prepares his scudetto main objective speech.

Message has been clear for a while. We are the make a wish foundation and still running our austerity programme... if a player wants to leave we will make sure we give in to the players wishes regardless of what monetary gains the club gets

Weak mentality

This team has been punching above its weight since Allegri got here. The level of competition these days is incredible. There are many super rich clubs that can afford to dump hundreds of millions every year and they do and they still have nothing to show for it.

Yeah whatever
Should we have a strong mentality, we would have not cracked in the final and after Real second goal.

Though, i do not disagree that we have been doing pretty much more than expected with our squad.

Yeah because money equals succes in CL? We just have seen City and PSG spending hundres of millions and doing much worse than us.

You people are way too oppertunistic, win a game = Allegri is great, lose a game = Allegri sacked, board out, Moratta lynched. It just doesnt work like that

I think you misinterpreted me. I don't expect the club to perform a transfer campaign similar to the clubs you mentioned. I don't want Juve to spend 150mln on full-backs as City did this summer or buy two players for 450 million as PSG did. I just would like the club to address the biggest weaknesses our squad has, which are midfield and RB. Without it, we can only expect the players and the coach to do the best they can but we cannot expect the triumph. And basically that has been going on since few years in which "we want to go as far as possible in the CL".

But this team already is strong enough to defeat anyone, this is not a chump team that requires incredible amount of luck to defeat the elite, we're already CL winner material. We deserved to kick out UEFAs favorites RM and they're the strongest team left in the competition.

As long as our transfer campaign is adequate and brings the much needed reinforcements in RB and CM, we should go for CL balls out. We blame our players for respecting Madrid, Barca and others too much, but that attitude starts from the top, Agnelli needs to set the tone that Allegri, Marrotta, Nedved, players and everyone at Juve follow.

Your second paragraph basically rephrase what I wrote. We will see what happens.

just build on our success, not selling off assets to buy new players to address old problems and creating new ones
Yeah but we never sold anyone who was an appreciated member of the squad and wanted to stay. Everyone we sold wanted out or wasn't valued by Mister. Players arent assets like machines though, if they don't feel like giving 100% anymore and want to move you need to plan forward.

Look at Alex Sandro playing like an absolute wanker. His market value must have dropped and he's been shit.

UEFA had to give in and give the top 4 league 4 guaranteed CL spots due to the threat of a European Super League, I think it's inevitable that a super league will happen, there is simply too much money to be made to ignore it

Agnelli proposes new Champions League
By Football Italia staff

Juventus President and chairman of the European Club Association Andrea Agnelli outlined his plans for a new Champions League format.

Agnelli sat down with The Guardian to discuss the backlash against FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s proposed new approach to the Club World Cup.

“We all want more international [European] games and less domestic, combined with an overall reduction of games because we don’t want to go over a certain number. And we said: 'Let’s come up with a proposal.’”

Agnelli and the ECA want to maintain 32 clubs in the Champions League, but rather than eight groups of four teams, they’d have four much larger groups of eight sides each.

They would therefore play at least 14 matches in the opening phase of the Champions League rather than the current six.

“You could say that whoever participates [in the expanded Champions League] has to play in the national league with six U21 or U23 players, but it’s brainstorming because there isn’t a project at the moment.

“Whether we are Man United, Real Madrid, Juventus, or Legia Warsaw, Sporting Lisbon, and Anderlecht, we all want more international exposure, to develop our brands. Today everything is about brand exposure.

“I think if we manage to find some grounds in which we can discuss this with the European national [football] associations, the European leagues, UEFA and the clubs, I think it’s just a normal evolution you would have in the game.”

Infantino invited only certain clubs to view plans for an expanded Club World Cup and this irritated Agnelli, as the ECA is meant to represent them collectively.

The Juventus chief also dismissed Real Madrid and Barcelona enthusiasm for the plan.

“If you go around to anybody saying: 'Do you want to play football for a couple of weeks, on average you get €150m, the answer is going to be yes – it’s fairly obvious.

“This is too important for the future of football than to enter it with no information, blindfolded. As I told him, the better idea is thinking about what is the role of FIFA, the governing body? FIFA should be a governing body about good practices, not about entering commercial joint ventures with unknown investors. I am surprised the way they are behaving at the moment.

“Whatever you propose in football you will not be 100% backed. The point is the stakeholders should sit down and discuss it. You have competitive balance [problems], polarisation, we want to sit down and talk about it.

“This would be under UEFA auspices, and there would be [financial] solidarity mechanisms. I am on the record with you, but I can assure you that many of my colleagues have very similar views.”
