Vieri is bigger than Cassano ,also, but not better. The size doesn't mean much.Faster...how fast he is exactly ,he looks to me like a grandma on th field.
One thing is sure, and I agree with you about that, and that's the playing time in the Seria A.I think that Vieri is going to be the startng line up solution, and that Gila will be the sub. From the milan's friendlies(both games against Chelsea, and some others) we can conclude that Vieri is going to be next to Sheva.
Vieri isn't the fastest player but he's still faster than DP, and plays more consistantly of late at least for the nationals.

I think Lippi will consider experience in the squad to germany, and if vieri continues performing then he is on his way. dp even though has lots of experience still lack performance.

Novellino in Del Piero call Wednesday 24 August, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sampdoria boss Walter Novellino has invited Juventus enigma Alessandro Del Piero to join him in Genoa.

The Bianconeri captain is seemingly no longer assured of a first team shirt at Juve, leading to stories of a possible departure.

Milan Coach Carlo Ancelotti stated at the weekend that he wouldn’t turn down the chance to sign him and Novellino shares the same view.

"They can give him to me," the tactician told the Turin-based Tuttosport newspaper on Wednesday.

"If Juventus want to be free of him, even if I think that is unlikely, then I would be delighted to have him in my side."

Novellino, one of Italy’s most promising tacticians, rates Del Piero’s current club highly and insists they will retain Lo Scudetto.

"They are even stronger than last season," he added. "Patrick Vieira is their best buy, while Emerson is a frightening leader. Zlatan Ibrahimovic? He is worthy of the Golden Ball.

"Milan are more spectacular than Juventus but they are less concrete at times."

Sampdoria finished fifth last term and Novellino is optimistic they can enjoy a similarly successful campaign this time around.

"The battle for fourth will be tough," he stated. "I respect all of our opponents but I would bet on Samp."

Vieri is a power forward, Cassano is not.

Then your opinion that Cassano is better than Vieri.., well..., thats just your opinion...

Del Piero isnt any use on the pitch anymore. And just when he actually had a chance to be useful off it, we've decided to sacrifice a better prospect than him instead. Seemingly Mutu to Roma for Cassano. The Juventus # 10 should've been inherited by Mutu and Cassano the # 18.

mutu is almost out.
the situation doesnt change for del piero as far as the playing time is concerned.
he was to play 2nd fiddle to mutu in the squad,
and now he'll play 2nd fiddle to cassano.

from his personal point of view,he might want to leave because either way,he wont get much playing time at juventus this season.

if the rumours are correct..and we DO sign cassano...
and if dp is sold.

our fwd line wud consist of cassano, zlatan, trez and zlayeta...which is good enough i believe.
plus we might be able to get some young 5th striker from the fee generated by the del perio transfer and groom him for the future.

getting sculli back wont be bad option either.
he's still on loan..rite?

Last season he was second fiddle to Zlatan, this year he'll be second fiddle to both Zlatan and Cassano (or Mutu if he stays).

Actually, it's possible that Mico stays and DP leaves. Not likely, but possible.

So that begs the question? Why should we dispose of Mutu if Del Piero may leave either way? Sell Zala, Miccoli and Del Piero. Use that cash + Chiellini and get Cassano.

Oh really pray do tell? If speed, frame and scoring ability arent the parameters for a striker, what is? The length of hair or the number of tattoos?

Del Pieri is not a clasic striker ,he can create a chance and score at the same time, while vieri is striker, and the parameters for the two different type of players are also different.
For the NT appeareances,Del Piero showed much more ability then Vieri for the past 5 years.
Vieri is the guy which simply can't score for the NT,and that's the fact.

LOL, are we talking about the same guy here? Sure, Vieiri has seen a dip in form, but that doesnt take away from his phenomenal goalscoring ability on the international level. Its like I said when I drew up the comparison in the first place, that if it came down to a choice between DP and Vieri, the latter's specialised center forward role would give him the edge among other things. Because as far as I can see, Totti and Cassano are good enough cover to play the supporting role.
