We need a good solid central defender and a right back, if Zebina doesn't cut it after long injury. I don't know why we didn't go after Motta, as I assumed we were, having not gone after Mattioni.

I think he has earned another shot at Juventus, a club who obviously believed in the past, and still believe now, in his talent, else rather than loan him out again, we would have sold him. His failures last season were not greater than those of Tiago or Almiron, yet they looked worse because they led, several times, directly to goals against us. That is a position specific problem. I mean culpability. Almiron and Tiago's jobs, when performed poorly, are not as likely to cause anything but annoyance. They are neither the prime goal scorers or the last line of defence against conceding goals, or presenting opponents with one on one situations in which you expect them to score. Their job is just as important, but their failures are not as heavy in the eyes of most supporters. Tiago stayed, though we wanted to sell him. Almiron went out on loan with a view to a permanent departure...But never did I see mention of Juve wishing to sell Criscito. That tells me that Ranieri or Secco see him as a future part of their plans. On that score, I am happy to support them both.

Essentially, we need both a better left back (than Molinaro) and more solid centre back( than legro, or mellberg, or Ariuado). We have a better left back in criscito, and maybe we also have a better centreback in criscito. I am merely saying Let Bring Him Home and give him the chance to cure one of our two fevers...

The attack is fine. Leave it alone, and bring Giovinco and Iaquinta into first team affairs more regularly next season, and who knows, perhaps Daud will get a few games..

I would be far happier were we to buy a top notch centre back, mate...a player proven capable of at least handling the pressure of playing for a top club. But, I am writing under the assumption that we are not in the market for a top drawer centre back...And if that is the case, I would certainly prefer Criscito back, just to roll the dice, than to bring in no defensive reinforcements or new ideas...

To help my lady ease herself into the dream realm, she often asks me about football matters when she desires sleep. Its the one time when I am able to speak to her about Juve without knowing that she will soon tell me to shut up...

Last night whilst going through this very routine, explaining to her about Nedved, the fire and brimstone churlishness of Cassano, the honour of our club. I began to get worried...Worried that our board and management cannot see what the thousands of Juve can see, which is the prime areas in need of renovation, of improvement.

Its plain to see for anyone with a half decent knowledge of football, that we need a replacement for Nedved, an improvement on both present fullbacks, and some cover for Camo.

Those are the goals, surely, before we consider anyone like Cassano, who admittedly I would love to see in a Juve shirt, but at the same time, his inclusion would signal less opportunities for Giovinco, and, or, a change of system to 4-3-3 or 4-3-2-1. The changes in system are less horrifying than curtailment of the progress of the brightest talent we have on our books.

Nedved must be replaced.

I just read a report of Silva saying...
“Could I win the Champions League with Juve next season? Why not? This competition is in my dreams and lifting that trophy [would be] really magical.”
which bodes well for the Summer Transfer campaign...but with the Nedved replacement settled, at least target wise, between Silva, Diego and Ribery, we must turn our attentions to Defence, where the problems are abundant and desperate for resolution.

I understand why we have plugged the gap between promising youngsters and experienced pros with solid, but ultimately lacking in quality players, such as Molinaro, Grygera, Marchionni...but now is the time to replace them. At least some of them...

Marchionni is useless. Molinaro, while adding impressive aggression to his game of late, is nowhere near the quality required to sustain a serious challenge at home or abroad. I don't mind Grygera...but when we have him and Marchionni on the Right flank we are weak there. The players are connected, especially so, given Camo's tendency to pick up injuries...

We can improve, progress, next season by adding on world class creative midfielder to the team, then also by purchasing a solid right back or left back.

With those transfers completed, we can progress.

Adding into that equation Silva and a quality right back, and we will be far stronger. Indeed, much of that formation depends on the ease of which Crisicito returns to the fold, but lets say for now, that he will find his feet and his head this time around.

Asking for these positions to be covered, improved, renovated, is not demanding too much. We spent nothing of note in the January window, other than the young bulgarian keeper...We have earned a decent amount through our progress in the champions league and coppa. We have money to spend.

If we are to stick with 4-4-2, its a shame for Giovinco, but we must buy a decent left winger, quality right back and better competition for De Ceglie than Molinaro.

First of all, i think we need to scrap away with our 442. In this tactic, we r too depended on both winger, if we r still to stick with 442, we not only to replace nedved, we also need to replace the right winger as well. Camo is good, but he is getting to much injury lately, and he is getting old, so is usesless to contiune with 442 if we only replace the left and we dont' replace the right. and deigo will not be suitable to this 442, he will end up like another tiago.

I wish we can employ a more compact center mid tactic, like the 4312, in our squad we have good defesive mid and center mid, in the likes of marchisio, sissoko, tiago, poulsen (tiago was a flop because he doesn't suit the 442 , we simply was looking at the wrong man in the first place, i think is not tiago's fault, if he doens't fit into a 442 then why should we buy him, we need to ask our secco) these player can combine for a good 3 mid. we then can use the resource to buy a trequartistas like diego, and split up the playing of del pieor for giovinco(sorry DP i'm a big fan of you, i'm a fan of juve because of you, but he doesnt have the energy to perofrm wk in wk out, he should act in role like what giggs is doing now)

In this system we need to improve our side back as they need to come up to spread out the field when we attack.

Lastly we need another world class center bk to parnter chiellini.

From the game of bologna , we can see that giovinco was given a more all att instruction after the break when poulsen replace tiago, he doesn't need to come bk to help out the def with poulsen marchisio saliham was the 3 mid doing the dirty work, and we can see our team r totally different team. And in the chelsea's game we can see that the 3 mid works very well, and tiago was fantastic with his passing and vision.

lets look bk to our glory days going to the CL final 3 season consecutively. is been 10yrs, we last touch teh CL. Bk then we dont' have a team of 11 starter of world class player, we still winning everything with the like of torricelli, pessotto, iuliano, brinidelli, tacchinardi ,

lets face it , we dont' have the suitable players for 442 anymore, (before we have nedved and camo playing at top level and thats why we hire ranieri and he was able to play his favorite 442) if we r to win something next year our management got to start thinking if we r going to stick with our 442 and buy enuf play to suit the formation and ranieir or name another coach thats works better on a 4312 formation.

I have great respect for ranieri, he is a good coach, but his 442 can only win use trophy if we have world class wingers on both side. otherwise we will end up empty hand again. and thats why he never win major trophy because all the team he manage before doesnt' have world class winger. In chelsea, he only got zeden Grønkjær duff, in valencia he dump aimar in order to play his 442 , which he totally mess up and got fire after a year .

i think we have a good foundation now, and is a matter of fact if the juve managemnet is smart enuf to turn this foundation into another stunning era.

can we just fire secco, in the old days we buy players that suit our tactics, but under secco his transfer policy and our tactics contradict, he buys player just because we need players, i really really hates him

According to most media outlets and sources close to the club, Juventus officials have some quite ambitious plans to strengthen the squad in the summer. The priorities are finding Alessandro Del Piero's successor well in advance, replacing Pavel Nedved (who recently announced that he will retire at the end of this season), signing a creative midfielder and adding one more centre-forward to the squad (especially if David Trezeguet will leave).

The main targets are :

- Sampdoria's forward Antonio Cassano. The creative 27 year old is considered by Juve's officials to be Del Piero's successor. Cassano is worth 20 million Euros and Juventus officials are determined to sign him.

- Several highly rated left wingers are being tracked by Juventus GM Alessio Secco to replace Nedved. They are : Valencia's David Silva, Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery, Chelsea's Florent Malouda, Napoli's Marek Hamsik and Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing. The most realistic options among these are Malouda and Hamsik, although the Frenchman has underperformed for almost two years and the Slovakian lacks international experience.

- In the creative midfielder position, Juventus are monitoring Werder Bremen's Diego, Chelsea's Deco and SV Hamburg's Piotr Trochowski. The arrival of one of them would lead to a change in tactics (from the current 4-4-2 to 4-3-1-2). Diego is Juve's favourite option, but Werder officials want at least 20 million Euros, the amount already required for Cassano. Juventus officials must decide whether to seriously invest in Diego or not.

- To cover Trezeguet's probable departure, Juve's next centre-forward could become either Atalanta's Sergio Floccari or Udinese's Fabio Quagliarella.

So Juve will still have a crap defense? The addition's of forwards and midfield don't exactly make a squad that lacks a quality left or right back any better. I'd invest in either a top right or left sided defender, a central midfielder with playmaking ability and a left midfielder. Those are Juve's main areas of weakness going into the next season. If someone is needed to spell DelPie... why not :cough: Giovinco?
