A year away from it, it seems like the 2018 QB draft is gonna be at least 3 deep but you never know how the process will eventually shake up. Plus, when looking for that next franchise QB, you will likely like one player more than the rest as opposed to just go with whoever is left ... that's more settling than getting the right player for you.
Basically, if you can't identify THE ONE, you have found none ... unless you are hoping to get lucky and pull another Prescott, like Dallas.

I wouldn't discount any team that drafts a QB this year from being in the hunt for one again in 2018. The gap in QB talent is that big and it's very likely GM and HC heads will roll between now and then - every new regime likes a fresh start.
Glennon's deal is for just two years, from what I understand, meaning he is most likely just a way-too-expensive bridge QB.

Anyways, how Hoyer does will also depend on what kind of help the 9ers get him on both O and D - he is not someone who can pull the team on his own.

Kyle Juszczyk would be a very good signing by the 9ers. Important piece of the Kyle S offense.
Yeah, he appears to be a good signing. Shanahan loves using a FB

I'm hearing that they still want Alshon Jeffrey as well. I'm only stating what I am hearing.

And they also want that Brandon Williams from Baltimore as well.

Find it difficult to endorse Jeffrey - just don't like the value of a move like that. Very much like Williams, although Bennie Logan may be a cheaper alternative.

Now talking heads are saying Cousins will be 9ers QB for 2018. If so, then you guys will probably not care much about draft position in 2018.
Still think 9ers would be better off just drafting their QB as opposed to going with Cousins, though.

I absolutely agree about going into 2018 and drafting their QB. Or, if there is a QB that they may like early in the 2nd this year, then go and get him. Although I have a feeling that they are A) Going to trade out of the #2 spot this year and get more picks, and B) Have a defense heavy draft this year.

As Bill Walsh once said "You can scheme on offense, but you need athletes on defense"

Yeah was just about to post this. An upgrade. Good to see us actually signing free agents. Can't knock Lynch and Shanny with how they are starting this new era.
If they aren't going to go after a pass rusher in FA, I would like to see them get one more skill position player on offense, and then go all in on defense in the draft.

I didn't realize Dontari Poe is a free agent. What the fuck is San Francisco waiting for

Or Brandon Williams. I'd be happy with either one. One or the other would present a significant upgrade to the run defense.

Tampa is signing Desean Jackson.

Stephon Gillmore signing with the Patriots. Wait. Hold on. What???? Holy shit, what a signing.

And this entry from Wikipedia

On March 9, 2017, Gilmore signed with the most successful franchise in NFL history, the New England Patriots.

- - - Updated - - -

Gilmore on one side, Butler on the other.

Who do you throw against?

- - - Updated - - -

14 million per year is the contract. Not sure about the years.

I wouldn't touch Poe, tbh. Two-down player without much versatility in terms DL position. Williams is a much better player, imo. Bennie Logan is an underrated option too.

Shocked by this Gilmore signing. Not sure how I feel about it. Most of the time I see him play is when he is getting his ass emasculated by Brady and co.
I am against giving big money to free agents at a position that is particularly good in the incoming draft. This draft class is one fo the best at CB/SAF in recent history.
If you are gonna throw big money at a CB, I'd rather see them bring back Logan Ryan, who you know what you have in and will be cheaper. Even more, if it had to be an outsider, I think I'd have rather seen them get Bouye over Gilmore.

I hope this Butler for Cooks trade rumor isn't true - that would be nuts, everything the Pats have been about and has made them so successful would go up in smoke.

Alshon Jeffrey to the Eagles for 1 year, 14 million dollars

- - - Updated - - -

Apparently this was the best deal that he could get out there in Free Agency.

So I guess we're gonna get Romo and pick someone up in the draft?
Possibly. At least they can keep him somewhat healthy with their offensive line.

I can't see why any QB right now would want to go to Denver and have to play behind what is arguably the worst OL in the league. He would have gotten killed out there.

I really don't like Romo with our O line. Especially since our left tackle is old and our right tackle has no knees.

Savage is at least as good as Osweiler anyway.

Basically, Browns bought a (late) 2nd round pick for 16 mil in cap-room.

I honestly thought there would have been at least a couple of dumb teams to enter in a bidding war over this guy ...
