no argument here - there were better ways to spend that 3rd round pick.

as long as Redmomd heals up without complications, he is a very good player; what hurts the value of the pick is that injury as I think he could have been taken later.

And I don't want to bring this up, but that trade, giving up that early 4th round pick to get a mid 2nd round guard, is going to look really silly if it means they lose out on a QB like Cook

would be the safe thing to do. no need to take risks. Redmomd likely redshirting is why I think he'd have been available in 4 maybe even 5th round.
Baalke ' s job is on the line this year. They can't afford to redshirt anyone. They could have gotten them an edge rusher to help that pass rush or a CB would could actually play this season

If they wanted Cook that much, they'd have taken him by now. Redmomd for one was not a can't-miss prospect.

If you are implying that Whitehair is better OG than Garnett and 9ers shouldn't have traded up for the latter when they could have stayed put and have the former, my response is this: system fit :D

Whitehair would be the best OG from a Pats fan's perspective as this is a passing O; 9ers under Chipster will be a run first O, in your case Garnett is the better fit than WHitehair and arguably the best run-blocking OG in the draft.

Also, Garnett would have been a great fit with all of Cards, Panthers, Seahawks at end of 1st, which is why 9ers did well to trade up in front of those teams to take their guy, acquiring a 5th year option in the process.

Joe Thuney to Pats - a Patriots type of OL-men. Low profile prospect, who I liked a lot.

I hope that Garnett will love up to his 1st round status. I also don't doubt that he is a high charcter, high motor guy.

My issue is thst I always like to see value for the draft pivks. Especially for this regime, where after an analysis of the last 5 drafts, have the worst track record in the NFL.

I have a real problem with then trading up and giving up picks for a player that was projected at a round lower.

There are so many good players available now early on in the 4th round, and now that chance is blown.

All the great drafting teams ((patriots, cardinals, packers) very rarely trade up like this and give up draft capital to get a player rated at or below the spot they traded from.

I mean, they signed Beadles in the offseason and are supposed to be grooming Brandon Thomas for the other guard position.

What was the point of this? Even if this guy was not thete, Reggie Ragland was there, and would have been immense next to Navorro. There were edge rushers available at 37. But instead, they trade up to get a player for a position they addressed in the offseason, and have a young player in Thomas that was a mid first round talent prior to his ACL injury before the draft.

Again, I don't see the point
