If the Niners are hellbent on taking a QB, and they don't do something stupid such as trade up to #2 to get Goff, or even worse, take Lynch at #7, then Dak Prescott is the guy that they should look at in the 2nd or 3rd round, if they trade back.

Don't use the #7 pick in the 2nd round on him, but if they trade back, then it makes more sense.

Cook is currently the best QB in the draft by far, though a few others have higher ceilings as far as potential goes perhaps. Of course, it's highly unlikely he drops to the 2nd round. Really surprising so little coverage of him until Jon Gruden gushed about him as the best QB in the draft recently.

But the guy is a stud. 35-5 college record playing far tougher competition than anyone else in the draft. 5-2 against top 10 teams in CFB. MVP of both the 2013 and 2015 big 10 Championship games. Led MSU to top 6 rankings 3 straight years (first top 6 rankings for the program in like 50 years). Led MSU back from 41-21 4th quarter deficit against Baylor in Cotton Bowl in 2015. and led MSU back from 17-7 deficit against Stanford in Rose Bowl in 2014. Won the Johnny Unitas award last year as nations top QB and led MSU to CFB playoff.

Don't get the lack of overt love for this kid.

Would be perfect for the Broncos. A solid-very good QB, with ability to make most throws, and who turns the ball over very infrequently and makes very few mistakes. No off-field issues at all, either. Combine him with Broncos receivers, and that defense...

I like Connor Cook. Problem is, he won't be there that early in the 2nd round, and there is no way, unless Baalke WANTS to get fired, that they take him in the first round at #7.

The Niners are the one team that should be trading down for either Lynch or Cook imo at pick 15-20. Get a couple extra 2nd-4th round picks out of it, because imo, a lot of needs for you in this draft. You'd get a good QB prospect out of it, plus a few extra picks to fill those needs.

Why do I have this sick and stupid feeling that the 49ers are going to trade up to #2 in order to get either Wentz or Goff.

And if that happens, I won't even bother watching the draft. Or the NFL for that matter.

This year, Goff is the safer pick for the Rams, imo; lower ceiling but safer over the next 2-3 years. Considering that move had a lot to do with Snead and Fisher saving their jobs, I wouldn't be surprised if they went with Goff over Wentz.
Either way, the Qb they pick is likely screwed anyway.
