The issue with Mariotta in this draft is that if you look at the top 6 spots, he will either go #2 or #6. There is no "Maybe Jacksonville, Oakland, or Washington take him " scenario.

So, Philadelphia may have to trade all the way up to #2 with Tennessee to get him, and who knows if Philadelphia has enough assets to make that trade

The only reason why McCoy was traded is because this draft is deep at RB. Meaning that Kelly can make the best out of the the pool but if the plan is to get Mariotta then I don't know how well the execution of their draft strategy will service them into landing a good rookie RB that can be inserted in a run-first ground game heavy offense.

The other narrative is that by trading McCoy and releasing the great Trent Cole can lead one to believe that Kelly plans to go all in on picks to trade up for Mariotta and fill the remaining holes on the squad through free agency. That essentially means patchwork. It will be very interesting how the Eagles (Kelly mainly) execute this offseason since he has full control over personnel decisions now.

Exactly

Mega still my dude

It's funny that he looks like Chappelle tho :D
There's rumors we're giving up Foles, three 1st rounders, three 2nd rounders, and two 3d rounders for Mike Evans and the number one pick. Could work out.

After what the league has seen what the Redskins did to get RG3 I think teams with 1st or 2nd overall picks know that they have god-like leverage and can ask for anything from a team (in this case Philly). Again the risk is the future of your franchise for the next 10 years or so. Draft picks are valuable and giving Tennessee high value picks over the next 2-3 years is a gift.

What I don't understand is how can anyone be confident that Mariotta or Winston is NFL ready? The most NFL ready QB I've seen over the past few years has been Luck, before that was Flacco. I know it's tough to gauge but I just don't see Mariotta translating despite the Oregon system in Philly.

In this case, it would be Tampa Bay we're trading with, not Tennessee.

And we already have a pretty good system with a great defense and O-line so I think we're able to take some risks.

Plus all that empty cap space means we can really do some damage with free agents. Byron Maxwell is the most recent one that's rumored to come over :tuttosport:

All I know is that next season the division is for the Giants to take. Dallas can't repeat their 2014 season performance now that they have actual expectations going into the season (unlike last season) and Philly has to groom a new QB if they get Mariotta. And Washington, welp.... :D

There's a chance the Giants get it with Cruz and OBJ but I still think the Cowboys are better than them at this point. But yeah, they're bound to choke, especially with people considering them SuperBowl candidates :howler:

And don't count us out, Kelly made it to the playoffs his first year with Foles :D
