Well, that makes absolutely no sense. I would be more inclined to agree with you if Welker had 10 targets and only had 5 receptions. But, he was 7 out of 8 in regards to targets/receptions. I just don't see how that one drop is attributed to him getting engaged, while totally disregarding the other 7 receptions in the process.

The fact that they only converted 1 of 13 3rd downs had more to do with them losing than Kyle Williams fumbling that ball.
LOL... He's great 16-18 games out of the season. Just make sure Alex Smith isn't throwing to him when you are trying to kill the Super Bowl.

a moronic thing to do indeed but apart from that moment he had a pretty decent game, so I doubt he was affected by the engagement thing ... had that been the case, I would have expected him to be piss poor altogether.
Brady's pass to WW wasn't a perfect one either albeit definitely catchable. And Brady/the OC also made that stupid play call for the safety, which proved decisive in the end as to what the giants needed on their last drive - because of the safety, 3 pts and killing the clock worked perfectly for them, otherwise they would have needed a TD and been more rushed, make more mistakes, and maybe not get the TD at all.
All in all, can't single out any one player for the loss, as was with Kyle Williams for the 49ers - the Pats lost to a more talented team ... made one costly mistake and failed to make it a 2-possession game when they had their chances ... on top of paying the price of Gronk being pretty useless.

The Bears had a decent team, but they weren't going to the SB even with a clean bill of health.

WAS most sacked, as in last year, bears were the hottest team in the NFL before that game against the chargers, and of course he needs to tackle if it is to save a TD guess you need to stop watching ESPN to get your opinions
The only position that the Pats were better at was TE. Otherwise the Giants wr core was wayyy better than the Pats (who had no vertical pass game all season), Giants had the obviously better defense and better rb's.
People can attribute the Giants scheme to the victory against the Pats but you still have to have the players to run that execute said scheme. NE's defense has been a joke since 2005. The moved away from the things that brought them the 3 titles early on and have become an air raid offense with defense as an afterthought.
If you look at how the Giants build their teams then you can understand/justify the results. They build the team from the inside out - o-line and d-line. That is how all great teams are put together and if you look at the Niners and Lions they are doing the same tried and true method which will bring them success in the future. The Pats & Packers both have extremely weak o-lines (defense is a whole other topic).
