imo, being a great HC is something you either have or you don't - if you do, you'll figure out your way around the NFL quickly enough. For example, doubt in Jim Harbaugh's case, his 1-2 years as a QB coach in the nfl made the difference between "wouldn't cut it" and being one of the best HCs in the league.

Saban could succeed in the NFL if he wanted too. Doesn't seem like he is interested, tho. But I don't really buy that, I think he'll take an NFL job sometime in the next 3-4 years.
Why would he do that? He has the best coaching gig in all American sports. He is the highest paid coach in sport according to Forbes iirc.

The NFL will never be able to allow him to practice his craft and perform his magic like the college ranks do.

He has no reason to ever leave Alabama,

The Bills new coach Doug Marrone spent like 3 or 4 years as the Saints OC and helped build the offense that went on to win the Super Bowl the year after he went to Syracuse.

And in his defense, he took over a Syracuse program which had been run into the ground by the coach before him. He won a share of the Big East championship this past season. He's got promise.

In the Big East. Enough said.

Saban has a chance to be mentioned in the same breath in the state of Alabama as Paul Bear Bryant.

There is no reason for him to ever leave Alabama. Besides, he's going to be 62 this year. Not exactly a spring chicken

He's the highest paid college coach, but not the highest paid football coach.

Alabama will not let that man leave. They will do anything to keep him there forever

This weekend is always the NFL's best weekend... screw the conference championships, let alone SB.

And the first one on the docket is an amaaaaaazing game. 35 all in Denver with Ray Lewis going head-to-head again with Peyton...
