I must say that the USC defense is the BEST defense I have EVER seen play. Ever. (like Banega) The problem here is not that USC had 266 total yards and Notre Dame had 9......at HALF TIME, but that since Oregon is laying the wood and shellacking that wood prior to laying it to Oregon State, Penn State may be in for the worst beating in their bowl history.
Umm... you do realize that the team USC lost to, Oregon State, were raped by Penn State 45-15, right?

They're playing Notre Dame. Shepherd could put up a fight against them.

if this year's USC defense is the best you have ever seen then you obviously have not watched much college football. a pac10 team who plays a weak schedule like such is a very poor example

i'm just saying that its not that hard to do against obviously weaker opponents from a weak conference. i'm looking at the truth behind the numbers, and you cannot deny that.

8/30 @ Virginia 1-0 (0-0) W 52-7
9/13 No. 5 Ohio State 2-0 (0-0) W 35-3
9/25 @ Oregon State 2-1 (0-1) L 27-21
10/04 No. 23 Oregon 3-1 (1-1) W 44-10
10/11 Arizona State 4-1 (2-1) W 28-0
10/18 @ Washington State 5-1 (3-1) W 69-0
10/25 @ Arizona 6-1 (4-1) W 17-10
11/01 Washington 7-1 (5-1) W 56-0
11/08 No. 21 California 8-1 (6-1) W 17-3
11/15 @ Stanford 9-1 (7-1) W 45-23
11/29 Notre Dame 10-1 (7-1) W 38-3

USC lost to Oregon State, the second-highest ranked team they had to play against in the standings in today's terms. Sure, they certainly have a good defense, but lets not blow things out of proportion here.

i'm not comparing USC and PSU's schedule strength, but i will say that if they do meet in the rose bowl, then PSU has a very high probability of winning that game

Oregon is the 7th highest scoring team in the country. Held to 10 points.
Arizona is 16th. Held to 10 points
Oregon State is 24th. Yes, gave up 27 points
California is 30th. Held to 3 points.

So, that is 50 points total given up by USC against 4 of the top 30 scoring offenses in the country. The lowest ranked (California) averaging 32 points a game.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful here, but some people, (DRU), need to put down the haterade and look at reality. THe bottom line is that you are looking at a defense with a potential 4, (yes 4) 1st round draft picks in Cushing,Mays,Maualuga, Moala. In a conference that is known for offense.

Or do you think that it is just an accident that the defense is that good???

You know something Dru, maybe if your "boys" down at "The U", actually gave a fuck about being football players and not wanna be gangsters, then maybe you would have a leg to stand on as far as your arguments are concerned.

But, that's OK. I understand, after all the state of FLorida is a ghost town as far as recruiting is concer...............................oh wait.

Oh, no, hold on, I know what it is. Miami isn't a major city, and therefore no one would want to go to a podunk little...............................oh, wait again.

this has nothing to do with miami!! i haven't been hyping the canes up at all in any capacity. what you have to understand that everything is relative.

oregon is top10 in scoring -- but they play in the pac10, which means that the rest of that conference is still weak and its not that hard to run up the score on those teams.

in terms of your out of conference schedule for USC those teams scheduled were known to be wins. did you really think OSU was capable of beating USC? what about UVA? ND?

its the same old run-around every year, USC has the easiest path to go to the NC and they somehow fuck it up. whether it be at corvalis or against UCLA. if they really are that good then they should be running over that joke of a conference and in the NC as an undefeated team.

The blowouts against California and Oregon were at home though. I don't think anyone can say USC doesn't have one of the top defenses in the nation, perhaps they have the best, nobody can be entirely sure. But losing away to Oregon State and allowing 23 points against Stanford is strange for the supposed best defense in the nation.

Iowa says Hi, Andrew. Iowa says Hi. Please don't talk about USC giving up 27 points to Oregon State, when Penn State gave up 24 to Iowa.

So I take it that USC's defense isn't allowed to struggle for ONE GAME. Against a ranked opponent no less. And nice of you to bring up stanford when it was 45-17 before Stanford scored a touchdown with 1:23 left in the game. Against 3rd stringers, no less

Oh Really?? Ohio State was just supposed to be a walk in the park for USC, considering USC lost 4/5 of their offensive line, and had a new starting quarterback.

I'm not defending USC and the reason why they should not be in the NC game, because there is no way they should. THeir mental lapses have cost them the last two years, and there is no excuse for it, nor do you see me making excuses.

And I'm not trying to defend the Pac Ten, read my previous posts. They do have 4 teams in the top 25, however.
