I wonder if Madrid has thought about replacing Benzema with Ronaldo. And signing a winger instead.

I think it's likely he'll go back, but not certain yet.

I believe in rumours that he chose not to choose sides - he'll let the teams solve it out. I think it's plausible, because he likes both places.

Also, I don't think being a starter is a condition for him to move to Madrid (that's how I used to think some time ago), because he's actually a fulltime backup at Juventus now (and that was a big mistake IMO).

Zidane is apparently really into Morata, so if he stays (and chances just went up), Morata is going back.

If he doesn't, there's a chance Madrid will want him only to sell him - that's when we can outbid the profit they'd get.

So, basically it all comes down to Madrid wanting him as a part of the squad. If yes, he'll go back. If not, we have a shot.

Btw, if he moves back there, I feel he'll fail hard. There will be a lot of pressure (also from within - he seems to be too much demanding with himself), and I don't think he'll handle it very well.

So I could actually see him coming back in 2017 for stg like 40M.

If he goes we both know there's no coming back. Judging by Marotta's interview it's fair to say he'll try to work out a deal with one of Madrid's player, it could be Isco or somebody else.

And IMO that would be the clever thing to do. That is of course if we're left with no chance but to let him go.

Why is this a mistake. It is incredibly risky to build a big dependency on a player who is effectively here on loan who you have no control over his future. This is because you might make him a central figure and he still leaves and then you'll have to start rebuilding your attack from scratch. It is definitely more rational in my opinion to build the attack around the equally capable Mandzukic whose future we do control than around a kid that you can't control and whose boyhood club is real madrid (the worst club any team would want to compete against for players).

You have to appreciate how difficult it is for Beppe (or any director) to convince any player to say no to madrid. Then try imagining how difficult it is to keep hold of a player who wants to play for his boyhood club. Add to that not having the leverage of a contract. Combine those 3 cases in one and you have morata. We had trouble convincing Tevez to stay one more year instead of going to his boyhood club in fucking argentina AND while he was under contract.

The only cases where it would make sense to me to heavily depend on morata this season is if morata was at a whole higher level than Mandzukic, making us a LOT better than when Manzukic is playing or if the kid is showing messi like potential and so if we do change his mind and make him stay we would hit the motherlode of all jackpots. Morata is neither those things and Mandzukic is usually equally as good.

im sure Mandzukic will want to leave if we get Cavani as he wouldnt be happy with being a backup. Lapadula will be either included in some deal (for Diawara maybe) or sold with a buyback option. we have no use for him at the moment. so if we get Cavani then this:

Cavani, Dybala, Berardi, Zaza/Morata

maybe if we switch to a 4312/4321 and in some unrealistic scenario where we would sign Cavani for 20M + bonuses we could afford to keep all 5. but i just cant see us getting Cavani
You need a good player as the 3rd option. Berardi/Zaza isn't good enough. And Berardi can only replace Dybala, not Cavani. Zaza is good as 4th striker, not immediate backup.

It is entirely possible we end up looking like Dybala, Cavani, Beradi, Batshitcray/Zaza next season.
Just realized yesterday Batshuayi's contract is expiring this summer. Marotta is defo chasing him.

Zidane is apparently really into Morata, so if he stays (and chances just went up), Morata is going back.
Real has needed a good backup for Benzema for two seasons now, and Zidane hasn't been playing Isco and James as wingers lately at all. He's using Isco Disco and James as CM options only now. Jese and Vazquez have been used as the attack substitutes.

Whether Zidane has Morata in mind or not, this does show that Morata would get a decent amount of playing time for Real as a backup.

One of Isco and James will be sold. I reckon it'll be the overrated James and not the player with greater (but yet unrealized) potential in Isco, whom Zidane always liked.

Anything that involves Morata being anywhere else than Real/Juve at the start of next season is bs.

Its one thing what we need, but another what the player wants. Mandzukic already left Bayern when they bought Lewandowski, i don't see a reason why he would accept being 3rd choice now
