Who compared him to Raul? The chances of him getting to Raul levels are pretty zero. However, he could easily get to Cavani levels, as the talent and work ethic is there. I would say the minimum level that wouldn't be incredibly disappointing is Higauin level. Cavani or slightly better is just as likely. It's not as though Cavani has been a world beater for PSG. He was a world beater for Napoli, and he's been good for PSG, but not world class. I'd bet Morata gets there. To that multiple 20+ goal seasons just in the league.

I certainly don't. I see him as growing to become like Higuain but not Cavani. Cavani is a completely different player and so was Raul (who was on a whole different level of skill to any of them).


Higuain is far from a bad player and for 20 mill to keep Higuain in your squad for the long term thats definitely a good deal. Higuain is just not world class is all I am saying.

Morata seems to be missing some skills that can only come naturally or by Ronaldo levels of training and growth. I am talking about natural talent here. Morata is a hardworking good talent but lacks that natural talent. Very good player to have and should certainly start ahead of llorente as he earned it but not comparable to Raul. The fanboyism is pretty insane.

What you're trying to say is that Morata is no Ronaldo (9) and sure he doesn't show the sort of talent that would reach those levels. But right now he's what we have and is working hard - that can't be denied - going from from average performances to being a dangerous striker.

I say let him grow. We need pace upfront, it's something we've lacked for as long as i remember.

What talent is morata missing? He's got technical skill. He goes past defenders easily. He's got aerial skill. He has power. He has speed. So what's missing exactly?

He has a little bit of everything, like Higuain but he is exceptional at nothing. Icardi for example has better off the ball movement and better finishing and looks like a player that can become very good at doing these things and only these things. Neymar has insane dribbling, passing and finishing. Chicarito was (his career has stagnated) a player with enormous potential at poaching goals and only at that. He sucked at everything else.

Balotelli has insane natural talent at passing dribbling and shooting but without hard work at all. Benzema has insane passing and build up skills that no one else. Van persie has insane finishing. Rooney has incredible workrate and a great shot and is good but not great at everything else. Suarez is insane work-rate, dribbling, passing and shot.

Morata is well-rounded without excelling at anything just like Higuain. Again good player to have and could be very effective and I hope he will continue to be.

He'll be better than Raul. He has everything needed to be a fantastic striker, anyone saying anything else is deluded. Wonderful all round game. Nothing like higuian who's limited from a technical standpoint. He goes wide and does stuff wingers do, he can hold it up, he scores goals and has a good football brain. The lad is going to be class for us especially as he grows and his body fully matures.

I am saying

1- He is the same type of player that Higuain is and so is very different from Raul, Ronaldos, Cavani, Mario Gomez, Balotelli, Suarez whoever because his raw skills are more rounded than specialized.

2- That type of players could be effective but is very unlikely to be as effective as specialized types who do make it (so Balo hasn't for instance).

I agree with you. And if you have not notice, I've never said he's going to be a top 5 player in the world, I think that's incredibly unlikely, if not impossible.

What's ridiculous is saying he doesn't have the talent to be world class. If world class is only considered top 3 strikers in the world, perhaps not, but Hist includes guys like Cavani and Rooney, etc in there. So let's say top 10 forwards in the world at any given time are world class. Morata clearly has the natural talent and ability to be a top 10 forward someday. He also seems to be a very hard worker. Saying his absolute limit is Higauin level is just absurd. If he didn't get to Higauin's level I'd be incredibly disappointed. His talent and football intelligence and work ethic places him more in the World Class potential area, as also evidenced by his smashing success at every level he's played at prior to senior level. Add to that his excellent goal to game ratio between last year and this year and I really don't see how anyone could suggest this 22 year old doesn't have immense potential. He clearly does.

Anyways, he's still a raw and unfinished product, so it's all speculation. We can all agree on one thing, he was immense today. And that makes me happy, because he was a big part of the reason Juve won.

Didn't quite say that, but he has all the qualities in his locker. He doesn't quite have to have them all at the god level, but being as well rounded as he is, means he's effective in basically every moment of a match. He still obviously has a long way to go but he's already showing signs that there's a superstar forward somewhere in there. Just look at the stats he's already racking up and this is his first season collecting some real game time in the big leagues.
