I see my pre-game post was quoted by @Lion.

Hands up, I was utterly and completely wrong, Morata was fantastic and it was 100% the right decision to start him.

But I'd also like to point out that I did say that I rate him, don't be flinging me in with Hist!

but then plot twist:

 damn you

I did change my mind the more I watched him. I never saw him as a world-beater but I have always seen him as having the potential to be a very good player. I backed his purchase.

At first I over-estimated his flair and assumed he could dribble better than he actually does. The more I watched him getting game time the more I realized he is more hard-work than flair or skill.

So yeah my opinion of him has evolved. You have to take context into consideration. Sometimes I say he is very talented when the general talk here is that he sucks or when he is mentioned in relation to someone like Zaza. Other times when he is being compared to Raul or the doomsdayers are saying Madrid will buy him back I say he lacks natural talent or he lacks potential. So my opinion has changed yes but not from EXTREMELY TALENTED to AMAURI as the quoted material here makes it seem.

He has a little bit of everything, like Higuain but he is exceptional at nothing. Icardi for example has better off the ball movement and better finishing and looks like a player that can become very good at doing these things and only these things. Neymar has insane dribbling, passing and finishing. Chicarito was (his career has stagnated) a player with enormous potential at poaching goals and only at that. He sucked at everything else.

Balotelli has insane natural talent at passing dribbling and shooting but without hard work at all. Benzema has insane passing and build up skills that no one else. Van persie has insane finishing. Rooney has incredible workrate and a great shot and is good but not great at everything else. Suarez is insane work-rate, dribbling, passing and shot.

Morata is well-rounded without excelling at anything just like Higuain. Again good player to have and could be very effective and I hope he will continue to be.

If you were a developer at FIFA, what special attributes would you give Morata
Engine
Finesse Shot

:p

btw, what's with the list?

All one has to do is watch him play. His football intelligence and positioning is almost as good as I have ever seen in a 22 year old forward. He's always in the right place, and he's pretty much always aware of where his teammates are. Also, his passing is excellent.

Three things he has the talent to become world class in:

Positioning
Awareness
Passing

Finishing could be added to this, dependent on a bigger sample size. I haven't seen enough to make that judgment yet. He was pretty skittish his first couple months here, trying to do too much to prove himself. Now that he's settled in, his finishing has been very good lately, as has his passing. He's also almost always making the right choice now of whether to shoot or pass, after spending the first bit always going for goal, and then the second bit always passing, the last half dozen games he'd found the balance.
