We didn't have a choice because of the buy back clause.
We paid 90M for Higuain. You think if we offered Real 30M for removal of the clause they would say no? I think they take it, considering they sold him a year later to Chelsea for 60M, after he had a great year with them. But who knows really

He wasn't half the player he is now. So it wasn't so wise to spend more than 30m on a striker who couldn't score double digit in his last season.

And we had Msnzu who played alongside Dybala.
But it was wise to throw away 90M when we had those same Mandzu and Dybala?

Moratas goals and assists per minute was fantastic in his 2 years here, and he always stepped up in the big games. It was a no brained to try and erase the buyback, but we were scared of spending too much

I'm sure they would have said no. Madrid only got him back so they could sell him for a much higher fee, I remember the media hype around him.

Man, what a beast he was for us in the CL, and his understanding with Tevez was amazing.

His first season was majestic. But his second one was pure shit except the Bayrn one. He missed a golden chance against Seviila and put us against Bayern with that miss.
We had an strong team that year ecpicaly second part of the season, we could have gone all to the Final if he didn't miss his chance against sevilla.

Apart from that Allegri was furious about his mentality and professionalim all season long. He didn't have any impact on our league and it was getting worse reaching end of season.

I didn't like Higuain at all. But that was an opportunity we wanted to show the world we are back. Unfortubaly higi cares about his next meal rather than being in shape. Both Lewa and Higi are at the same age. Our investment could have turned out to be flawless if higi wasn't an unprofessional player.

Plus Madrid sold him around 80m to Chelsea. So I'm perfectly sure we wouldn't spend that money on him.

This is wrong. Alvaro had an absolutely dreadful 4 months from October to Late January (didn’t score in the league once) and you are right, Max was furious with him.

But he didn’t continue to get worse after that, he actually killed it the rest of the season, starting with his brace against Inter in Coppa Semi’s on January 27th. He later said Buffon really helped him get through some mental struggles that season.

He scored 9 and assisted 7 in 10minutes from January 27th until end of season. Including 2 in Coppa semi against Inter, came on and buried the winner against Milan in Coppa final, scored that delightful sunglasses celebration goal to bury Inter in the league. Brilliant assists in both legs against Bayern and scored a goal that would have probably seen us through but was ruled out offside by a retarded linesman even though he was almost a metre onside.

9 goals 7 assists in 1035 minutes is insane productivity though. A goal or assist every 65 minutes.

Also, we very well may have faced Bayern in QFs or Semis and lost to them then, so it’s a little disingenuous to say his miss against Sevilla knocked us out. While it was super shitty, and he should have done way better, we had to face top teams in CL at some point.

You are right about his sale price though. And he wasn’t consistent enough for us to bet 80mil on him, which is fair enough. Thankfully he really seems to have grown that way due to his struggles at Chelsea and Atletico and come back here with a much better mentality. He’s a monster now.

Imagine if we kept him in 2016 instead of throwing away 90M on higgy
It was one of the many bad management decisions our board has made. Imagine he stayed along with Vidal and Pogba, we would have won the CL at least twice by now, regardless of the Ronaldo coup.

He had 12 goals and 11 assists in some 2300 minutes that year you say he was bad. You say it's his fault we were 2nd but he scored in the 1st game vs Sevilla and away to City, so would we have even passed the group with no Morata, by your logic? Why we didn't beat Gladbach twice? Why we gifted a CF to a opponent just before the season started, who would score a winner vs us?

You pay 90M for Higgy and you call that a statement? You realize our only two reliable mids at that time were Pjanic and Khedira? You realize there were a ton of better options to send a message? And please, IF higgy was professional? Are you kidding me? Check his photo when he 1st arrived in italy and when he played his last season for Napoli, and then see how he arrived to us. You act like it's a big surprise it's gonna end so bad, like no one could have seen that coming. It was a super expensive panic move from us, and ofcourse it backfired. No one to blame but us.

That sunglass celebrations was for the previous season if I'm not mistaken.
Yeah he was amazing that season but the second one was just disappointing at least

I'm not talking about statics only. He wasn't consistant enough in the second year . Allegri was furious about him and mentioned his lack of efforts in every interview, even buffon came out and questioned his mentality.

He played like pussy for months.throwing himself down with slightest touch from players.
Obviolsy something was wrong in his head and the club decided to go for the record breaker guy who delivers in every game.

Higi's transfer looked bad on long run because we sold Pogba to compensate the expense. That was the moment I think Marotta had lost it as a monger here.

It was pure madness, selling a generational talent who was playing like a star and captain in the second half of the season here and buying a 28 years old strike instead, while spending more.
