Anyway, people must be pretty excited about Morata if they are all so convinced he'll do well enough to make the clause a relevant part of the deal.
Yeah, that or they find the symbolic value of the clause appalling.

Then again you support a club that haven't had success in decades. How would you understand..

Thing is, it's a paradox for us

If he flops or turns out to be average, Madrid obviously won't go near him but then we've thrown money down the drain. If he's as good as we hope he turns out to be, we may end up losing him for marginal profits

The only scenario in which we really win is if Madrid go after somebody like Falcao and even if Morata turns out to be World Class it'll be too late for Madrid to buy him back.

Mario Giunta (Sky) "Il Real ha il diritto di ricomprare Morata a 30. Se in questi due anni altre squadre vogliono acquistarlo, sono 100 mln"

It seems there is a 100m clause can someone translate this .

I think if anybody other than Madrid want to buy him in the next 2 seasons there's a 100M clause, and after the 2 years are up, anybody at all would have to pay 100M to activate the clause

Of course, he'll never be worth 100M but PSG don't seem to care so let's hype him up for 3 seasons and give PSG a call :tuttosport:

Meaning, that whether or not this was shrewd business by us remains to be seen. We just have to wait and see this saga out. There is a risk Madrid will get the last laugh, but I actually see it as more realistic that we're gonna end up having the last laugh with this deal.

RM will always chase the Falcao's, Suarez's, Rodriguez's of this world. Most likely I think Morata is gonna develop into a "very good player", perhaps just shy of being world class. Will that be enough for RM to bother with activating his clause? I don't think they will. I think they will go after the biggest stars in world football no matter what. IF he turns out to be THAT kind of player (WC), though, and then they buy him back, well, then so be it. That was the risk we took.

As for him flopping immensely and turning out to be a shit player that can't even be sold on by us for 10-15 million, I don't consider that likely at all. He obviously has a lot of talent.

Indeed.

Symbolic value.

A key problem of fans of so-called top clubs is that they are frequently more interested in posturing and shouting 'we are whoever' as if that matters, instead of looking at things more practically.

Then again you support a club that haven't had success in decades. How would you understand..
Won a trophy last season.

Never been relegated.

Football is emotion. Can't be bothered to be rational in that sense.

So much success. Eating the leftovers of Celtic and Newco.

When was the last Championship again?

It seems to me like a very bad deal!
We overpay to get him and then we get 10m if he somehow becomes great.
Bad business IMO

Not "if he somehow becomes great". It's "if he somehow becomes great enough to fit the RM galacticos profile." And that's a big fucking IF.
