Juventus are making progress in their bid to strengthen the squad in view of their likely return to Serie A, insists sporting director Alessio Secco.
The Bianconeri are being linked with new players on a daily basis, but Secco insists that their number of targets are decreasing rather than increasing.
“We are starting to tighten up the circle of players who are our market objectives,” noted the Bianconeri official.
“We are evaluating which options would be most advantageous for us and looking around to create a squad for the First Division.
“We are monitoring all options and not just watching players who are appearing in the Italian championship.”
Juventus’ Plan B this term has included the graduation of several youngsters like Matteo Paro and Claudio Marchisio, but Secco has suggested that may be difficult to repeat next term.
“In Italy, especially at the big clubs, the result is what is fundamental at the end of the day,” he continued.
“Other countries allow clubs to try out youngsters, but this is not always possible here. However, this is not to say that we are not counting on our younger players.”
Secco also moved to cool talk that Juventus would look to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic after Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli expressed his regret at his summer sale to Inter.
“Who wouldn’t want him back? The President knows what he is talking about,” noted the official.
“Unfortunately his stay wasn’t compatible financially with us last summer and we knew he was good when we sold him.
“Unfortunately some of the sales were enforced.”
Juventus moved a step closer to Serie A with a 1-0 win at Pescara on Saturday and Secco is obviously delighted with how the campaign is shaping up.
“It was a fundamental victory on a number of levels,” he added. “It allowed us to move six points clear of second and eight of third, all with a game in hand.
“Now we have 13 games left and we must remain focused in order to make sure of promotion as soon as possible.”

did Secco work with Moggi before??
if he did, i think he should learn sth from Moggi~
not in transfers i think but he was in the management team with moggi.

anyway its good to see him having his eye on some players and not bringing in a whole new team.

Since Luca Toni's thread is closed, I'll post this piece of news here...

Sporting director Alessio Secco has rejected claims that Juventus are lining up a bid for Fiorentina striker Luca Toni.
The Old Lady have been linked with the Italian hitman as a possible replacement for David Trezeguet.
However, Secco insists that Toni will not be arriving after Trezeguet recently suggested that he was ready to remain in Turin despite no Champions League football next term.
“I would be a liar if I were to say that I don’t admire Toni as he is a great player, but Juventus already have their strikers and we don’t need any new ones,” noted Secco.
“I don’t really want to talk about our market plans, we just want to focus on promotion first and then we will see what happens.
“However, we are very happy that Trezeguet has changed his mind. With him in the squad we are very serene and happy.”
Secco also confirmed that no decision has been taken on Valeri Bojinov, who Juve have an option to buy from Fiorentina over the summer.
“I haven’t spoken with the Viola about Bojinov or Manuele Blasi. If they do not decide to buy the latter then we would be happy to bring him back to Turin.
“Our defence? We are fine with Zdenek Grygera and Domenico Criscito, so for the time being we are not interested in Dario Dainelli.”

I see the Tuttosport headline today has Marcello Lippi pontificating about the Juventus strategy next season - at a Tuttosport sponsored press conference.

Can anyone tell me what he said please and what sanction he has to speak on behalf of the club. I thought that was Secco's job!!

This was from the Bravo website.. Doesnt say much but its more than channel 4.

Tuttosport
Tuttosport titles that former Azzurri Coach Marcello Lippi believes Gianluigi Buffon will stay with Juventus and will take part in the club’s summer camp with Didier Deschamps, while he thinks that the Bianconeri will not sign Luca Toni, as they already have David Trezeguet, whom he considers one of the strongest goalscorers around.

I hope he is right.

Maybe Buffon is staying because Lippi is getting a role in the club which also means he knows what is going on. Or maybe not.
