Meh, its not like he'd be our starting CB if we sign him, so his injury concerns shouldnt be *too* much of a problem. If we could get 15-20 games out of him, it would be well worth it IMO. The pace and the legs might be gone, but I bet you his anticipation and reading of the game is still sharp as ever.

That's the problem. Having players who lost their desire and ambition and are not willing to fight for a spot in the first team is useless no matter how good they are.

Two words. Pietro Vierchowod.

We signed him when he was like 37, and he played a very solid season for us (started in the CL final). Nesta is/was infinitely better than that guy as well, he'd be brilliant to have for one season, would provide experience and nous to our backline.
Good comparison to Vierchowod. Nesta is one of the best 5 CBs I've seen in my life time, and he is still good enough for Juve and Champons league football.

I never seen Vierchowod playing in his prime, but seen videos of him. Is Nesta realy better than him?
Because Maradona's words about Pietro being his toughest opponent always got me wondering about how good this guy was with Sampdoria.

He was amazing versus Barca, for a 35 year old.
Because he wanted to play that game and was pretty much involved almost all season. When he loses his desire and just play to end his career, he'll crumble.

What indication you have that when he joins Juve he'll be playing to end his career? If he's playing to end his career he would join an American, Russian or Emirati club, or even return to his home club Lazio. Not join a Champions league club with a decent chance to win the league.

Agreed, younger and fitter defenders like Ferdinand, Pepe, Carvalho, Rami etc.. fallen victims to Messi, but Nesta did not.
even vidic, and that guys been the benchmark for world class defending for almost a decade.

Vidic fallen a victim to Eto'o in 2009. In 2011 He was probably the only United player along with Rooney who wasn't a total disgrace.

"Throughout the 2010–11 season, speculation indicated that Nesta would retire at the end of the season, however he later confirmed that he wanted to play one more season at Milan before retiring and signed a contract extension on 18 May 2011, which will keep him on Milan's squad until Summer 2012."

Wanting to retire doesn't mean he won't give his best. Zidane had one of his best years in football the season he retired.

Nah, that was Ferdinand. Vida was the reason United didn't lose 10-1 :p

Vidic is great, but quick players are his achilles heel, they dont need to be a Messi who is achilles heel for almost anyone, but I remember Vidic getting consistently left for dead by Bellamy in different games in different seasons.

Pace is not his strongest point. Eto'o raped Vida in the 2009 final, so did Torres the same year. As for Bellamy, I don't remember him leaving Vida for dead, but I remember him making a tool out of Ferdinand in his City and Blackburn days.
