Could someone show us the ratio of shots/goals of Matri and compare it to higuain ?

Not comparing the two but I feel most of the criticism on Matri is just unfair. Seems like a case of the gr$#@! is greener on the other side of the fence here.
Higuain is better.
According to whoscored.com, Higuain has 18 goals with 1.9 shots per game; Matri has 10 goals with 2.5 shots per game.

Actually scratch that, Higuain has 51 shots total in La Liga (wtih 18 goals) while Matri has 64 shots in Serie A with 10 goals.

His poor decisions and weak ball control limit him.

Trezeguet had limited ball control, but he was intelligent and made good decisions + excellent finishing = Legend

I love Matri, but he needs to improve a lot, maybe with some confidence he will be on the right track to be our starter.

:agree:
that is why a new poacher is the most important player to sign in summer no not a SS an true CF

Higuain is also playing in a league with no defenders.

While there is absolutely no doubt that Gonzalo is am accomplished striker, I think some you'll seriously overrate Higuain on this forum. Sure, he's a good striker and has been for a consistent period of time. But to me, he's being made to appear like a guy whose going to carry the team and attack singlehandedly, when that's not going to be the case.

Also, you cant compare him to Matri or question Matri's ability next to Higuains, which anyway is not a fair career comparison till they play in the same league. They are both poachers at the end of the day, and eventually, the only thing thay sets them apart is going to be their goal scoring instinct. A CF, normally is the one player who more often than not, is only as good as the team around him. If Higuain plays on this Juventus team that doesnt play with as much width as RM, there is nothing he has done in Spain to suggest that he will outscore Matri under similar circumstances because he's going to also need the backing of the coach and the confidence of the team.

Right now, that's what Matri is lacking. We've all seen him in his element, and I'm going to go as far as saying that we are all jumping the gun by assuming he's not going to be good enough for the CL. Too many variables here. Who knows what would happen if he's flanked by Suarez instead of Pepe? Let's be a little patient with players who have shown potential instead of chopping and changing every season. I don't deny we need a game changer, but to me, before I change Matri, I'd ask for a new RWF with due respect to Pepe.

Also, Higuain is not worth 35m. That kind of money when we are bolstering up for a CL season would be better spent on a JoJo/Suarez kind of player.

Not a bad stat for Matri, plus it's "much" easier for attackers to score in Spain than Italy. I remember Vieri was hardly scoring with Juve (scored around 9 goals in a season back then), went to Spain and in his first season there with atletico scored something like 25 goals in 25 games !!

Anyways saying that I can't deny that I'm myself a huguain fan for years now but as Baggio said in his post we should replace players like Pepe first who hardly create anything in our games before replacing a decent attacker like Matri.

Why does Higuain only manage 1.9 shots per game in a great attacking team like Real Madrid? Seems he isn't as good in his positioning as you all say

Just watch him play the game.

His positioning and off ball movement is perfect that he probably helped Ronaldo and others score a lot, a lot of goals.

Neither were all RM players at half time. If Mourinho took Benzema out instead of Higuain, we'd still see a 0-3 or even 0-4 score.

You cannot judge a player from one match anyways, just watch him play regularly.

Fair enough, but you told me to watch him so I did and it matched what i've previously seen from him. I will keep an eye out though and have more of a look at him
