I'm glad we took the gamble on him because he looks capable of very good things here.
Exactly and yes, he should stay. He can get us 15-20 goals, maybe more if the right team is built...He is the kind of striker that doesn't ooze class but does his fucking job and for that reason he should stay. Just because he isn't all shiny and flashy doesn't mean he can't do the job well. Thus far he has shut most people up and looks to continue it.

The pressure on the team is massive right now and he is delivering the goods. Not bad at all I'd say.

8m? Really? A striker that banged in 16 goals already with nine more rounds to go, doesn't cost 8M.
Depends, if you use the same logic certain people do, we could get Matri for a cost of even less than 8 million €.

Just give Chiellini, Buffon, Marchisio & Melo to Cagliari and add 1 million €. Cheap, isn't it?

Except that that doesn't bring the price down.
There you go getting technical...sure it does when you think about it.

Say we give them ekdal and we value him at 4m but got him for 1m, so that means we are bring the price of Matri down by about 3m...so yes, it works that way.

do the majoiry of them fall under the group of ''young fellas''?

In reality, smaller clubs like Caglari, Palermo and Udinese dont get fucked in transfers.

How am I getting technical?

Getting the price down would mean agreeing with Cagliari to pay for example 14 million.
Giving them 14 million + Ekdal (if we indeed value him at 4m) still means paying 18m in total. It's really not that difficult.

Let's say we sell Chiellini to Real Madrid for 25 million & in turn buy Rossi from Villareal for 23 million. Does that mean that we received 2 million to sign Rossi? The answer is quite simple here.
Better yet, sell Buffon for 15 & sign Benz for 20. We would get Benzema for 5 million!!!

Giandonato, Pasquato, Lanzafame, Immobile, ...

Cagliari's call. And they are already covered for the striker's position. Maybe not for 8M, but for 10-12M plus some players I think it's possible.

Or an even better example. Hypothetical situation:

1)Cagliari want 14m + Ekdal. So less than 18m according to some crazy logic.

And

2) Udinese want Ekdal and are willing to pay 5 million for him.

Surely the better deal would be selling him for 5 & spending 18, rather than going for the "cheaper" option.

You get them to agree to lower the price of their player in exchange for a couple of ours that don't really cost us anything at all...perhaps ones that come thru our academy.. Give them F. Rossi and Immobile that cost us nothing at all ever and have them bring the price of Matri down from 16m to 11-12m and we save money...it isn't rocket science.

There are different scenarios here Buck.

You don't really even need to use players that we have paid for, like Ekdal for example. I see your point in those examples, but that does not necessarily mean how the deal would take place.
