I do agree with thoes who say Matri is not World Class.. BUT, I'm very sure that he'd be worth a big club if he had good players along him..

Neymar-Matri-Krasic with the right midfield and wing-back's would be hot! You really can tell the way he finishe's, heads and just by being the right place at the right time.. He is a true 9'..

I had doubted him, but he is proving me wrong. I like his movement and he is a very good finisher.

I don't think that he is worth 18million just now, but lets face it we are not getting in the Champions League this season and therefore it is highly unlikely that we can attract a Benzema or Dzeko.

If he keeps playing the way that he does I will be happy, I'm sure that there were more glamorous players than Vialli, Ravanelli, Inzaghi when we signed them but each of them turned out to be good.

We do not need to make our mind up about him yet, lets just see how he gets on over the rest of the season and hope he can keep his form up.

Matri is an old school centre forward. He's quite quick as well as being relatively tall. He has the intelligence to run into space to open up a chance and when he gets a chance he can finish well as well as being reasonably good at heading.

He's not the kind of person you look to to change a game but he is well suited to being the end product of a team move. If you play him with a creative player behind (Giovinco? Quagliarella?) and two creative players out wide (Krasic and whoever we end up with out left) he will of course score goals because he will move and open up passing lanes which will lead to scoring opportunites.

A Kluivert or Batistuta, not a Ronaldo or Del Piero.

Also - first post! Hi everybody!

In other words, one of those who can't do anything against teams in Europe because he's very limited and predictable.

Batistuta was a legend, no way you can put Matri next to that guy.

Welcome, by the way. Use this thread (http://forum.juventuz.com/showthrea...nce-yourselves-and-get-your-balls-cupped-here) to say hi, if you wish.

Just posted in there, thanks.

I wasn't suggesting that Matri is of the same standard as any of those players, just comparing the style. If I had used lesser-known players you mabye wouldn't have known them as well and so wouldn't get the style comparison. Although I suppose those who don't rate Matri would say that that is the very point - that Matri isn't on par with the well known players I listed.

I wouldn't say that Matri is limited and predictable - I'd say he is reliable. In other words, you can build up a team around him designed to set him up and you will end up with a lot of goals. He has all the attributes you look for in an out-and-out centre forward. All the attributes I would look for, anyway.

Neither of them is good enough to be a regular striker for a Champions league team. Both of them would make good sub strikers, but one cost 18m the other don't.

Milan: Pato and Ibra
Real: Higuain and Benzema (P.S Adebayor on loan)
Barcelona: Villa and Bojan
Inter: Eto'o and Milito
Bayern*: Gómez, Olić and Klose
United: Rooney, Berbatov, Hernandez and Owen
City: Dzeko, Balotelli and Tevez
Chelsea: Anelka, Drogba and Torres
Arsenal: van Persie.
Liverpool*: Kuyt, Carroll and Suarez

Now no wonder those teams are going to play UCL football next season, because they have great strikers.
*teams that might not play in UCL next season, but still have UCL quality strikers.

Juve should be after the likes of Benzema, Neymar, Adebayor, Forlan, Aguero, G.rossi, Nilmar Not the likes of Matri.
That's in my view a very warped view of football. You're saying that a team is only as good as it's attacking players?!? That's just absurd. Attacking players shine when the rest of the team is providing them with support. When we play against mid- to lower table teams and we can barely manage two shots, let alone shots on goal, then the problem is not the attack, but the whole team.

This team doesn't just lack quality players, it lacks personality too.

Even that, I don't think they are the same type of players. Batistuta was explosive with a great shot while Matri is a box striker.

But I get your point.

I think we need both Quag and Matri. I would hope we would not get Matri and would buy Benzema but now that we will miss out on CL Matri would be a good pick up for us. He is not of the same level as a top striker but he is very good. But Matri is not good without someone creating chances for him. So I think we would need Quag as DP can't play every game and create chances for Matri. Also we need a good left winger but seeing how there will be no CL instead of thinking about players like Hazard or Bastos or 20 million Euro players we should get Drenthe for about 8 million euro. He would be excellent for us and give us as much pace and technique on the left as Krasic gives on the right. That way we can sort our attack for about 40 million Euro and be very competitive. Then we can get Beck and a LB with the money we get from Sales of players.

Owen, Kuyt, Olic are in no possible way are great strikers. Adebayor is lazy,. I would rather have Matri than all those 4, he is a scoring machine, works hard, and care about the jersey, with great support he should be scoring 15-20 goals on a regular basis.
