What I find odd is the attachment that people have to certain players who are lumped into this Quagliarella/Matri type of player, where they are average to slightly above average, are widely ridiculed by the general populace, then as time goes on those same people develop a fondness for them. To the point where the legacy of what they accomplished is outweighed by what actually happened.

Sometimes the memory is detached from the reality. And that's fine, because it happens all the time. Everyone has their favorites, and for those that really like Matri, I'm glad that they got their player back, but let's not get it twisted, and let's have a sense of realism injected into this. I think most of us can agree that Baggio was a legendary player in his day, but I still find myself susceptible to delusions of him being able to walk on water whenever he felt like it.

He's a 5th choice striker, who to me isn't even the type of forward that they need. In all honesty, although I'm not a big fan of his, but Zaza would have made more sense.
Some people are just here for the jokes and trolling, plain and simple. They like a player because he's good looking or his wife is. Because he dresses well or some other stupid childish reason. It's just Fanboyism. Morata is the new favorite even though he hasn't done anything to achieve such praising.

Anyone with half a brain and half a memory will remember how incapable of anything Matri was and how seeing him leave and being replaced by better players was such a relief.

Matri is more mobile, has worked under Allegri twice before and has much better positioning. Oh and he already knows the players behind him just as well as Llorente does.
Not that much more mobile, sorry.

How's that work for him?

That doesn't mean much. Actually it means almost nothing.

And here it starts.

What are the similarities between Matri and Llorente? That they both can't control a ball? Besides that Matri offers some pace, better positioning, and makes runs that Llorente would never make. Llorente is much more of a target man than Matri. Not taking anything away from Llorente but he isn't doing anything this season, so until then Morata should start. Matri would be a nice alternative.
Matri offers pace? no.

Better positioning? Maybe.

Make runs? and then misses the chance. What's the point?

Are people actually celebrating we got Matri back? This place never ceases to amaze.

But hey, i could whine and complain all I want but that's not gonna change anything.

So, Welcome back i guess.
Well as long as we are leading the table and advancing the group stages of the CL we don't have the right to complain, this is the general rule that goes by.

Yes, a LOT more mobile. Anybody who's capable of leaning over to tie their own shoe laces is more mobile than Llorente currently is

How did it work for him? First time it worked well, 2nd time he joined a shithole of a club. He's had a better season than Llorente playing for a hugely inferior club and unlike Llorente he can actually make runs and get in to good positions in the box. Llorente is way too fucking static for Juve. Especially since we have no wingers making runs off of him

Neither should be actual starters for Juve, but i'd much rather rely on Matri than Llorente.

Not even going to argue because you defend Llorente like he is Zlatan or some big striker. Regardless this transfer isn't bad, he is coming for free and low wages. Don't see what the problem is
The transfer itself, form a financial standpoint, certainly isn't bad.

From a sporting standpoint, however, I don't know how this makes much sense.

In my opinion, if the opportunity was there, they should have gone after a striker with qualities that are similar to Morata, or obtained a SS that could give Tevez a break once in a while.

But thats exactly it, there were no opportunities as far as we could tell. So we are simply getting ready for the summer mercato.

It's not about defending Llorente, he's doing very poorly and should leave next summer.

I just don't need to participate in your and Hustini's (I still love you, you whore :D) little "we hate Llorente" club. It's pathetic.

He wasn't your average mediocre Italian striker like Matri. He was actually GOOD, talented. So i'm sorry i don't feel like bashing the guy.

You are arguing with both of us yet we are supporters of Llorente. :D, its just like everyone else we would much rather see someone who would offer something to the team. And I will forever love Matri so there is no changing that either :D

Basically, to end a debate that is a bit pointless. I'd rather neither Matri or Llorente were starters for Juve. But I rate Matri higher than I rate Llorente (Considering we're not in a 4-3-3 with 2 orthodox wingers) and Matri is a much cheaper bench option. So ideally we would sell Llorente for 8-10M and get his big wages off the book, and keep Matri or whatever for dirt cheap on the bench.
