Has anyone ever told you how much of a buzz kill you can be?
Jack
Wrong.
2nd half of Ariaudo for loan and option for to buy for 15.5.
You are missing the big picture, think ahead!
If this 2nd half Ariaudo means CL spot, then it's worth to gamble
If we have the sum to perform a 20mil+ acquisition, we shouldnt gamble.
And the CL is out of reach, since we did nothing for our real problem, the defense...

Not sure what to make of this.

The player himself could be quite useful, but the numbers are pretty high. And it looks like we're already spending quite a lot of money (or committing to spend) from next summer's budget, which doesn't sit too well with me.

it's just a loan till now. we pay 2.5 million for the loan but on the other hand receive 2.5 million from cagliari from the sale of the full ownership of ariaudo. in merrier times we probably would have kept ariaudo in co-ownership for a longer time, but right now we needed a striker and that's how we got him. we also have the right to buy him at the end of the season for 15.5 million, but we are not obligated to so and the price is still negotiable. marotta mentioned the other day that all the loan deals with option to buy are no obligations and that asking prices are not fixed.

I think that's an understatement. We just signed one of the most in form strikers in Serie A and we did it in a very difficult time.
i totally agree, its just many here think matri is some sort of sub standard maccarone esq player, i actually think it was a good signing considering our lack of resources, but many still moan, as i said it could have been alot worse in FF and maccarone.

Who have we committed to Buck?
Let's not kid ourselves. Guys like Pepe, Aqui, Matri & Quag (maybe depending on how things will turn out) are here to stay. Which is fine by me, but it also means that you probably will not have a lot of budget left for other, pressing reinforcements.

Considering how Marotta speaks Pepe won't be staying.

This is true, but remember we will be paying them off in installments like we always do so it's not like it's one flat fee paid up in full. It would be over the course of a few years for each of them, plus the possibility to negotiate to lower their prices. I still think that if we get those players we will still bring in at least 2 great players this summer. We need too, and like the rest, those great players will be paid in installments.

Let's not forget we have a cash cow opening for us next year to ease the blow. :D
