Guinea play possession football. The Ghanese deliberately left the grass high to spoil that. At least that is the gist in Naija...

Meanwhile Esteban, you owe us an apology for your insinuation on the first page of this thread that AFCON is boring and full of 0-0 draws. You've been proved wrong already.

i have to agree with Chxta here Esteban...no offense mate..but that statement just went to show how little you know about our football..the bad pitches and bad weather conditions could be an obstacle for pretty football in Africa...But that doesnt mean African football is "boring"

A swede calling African football boring. Now i have heard everything. Every year or 2 years I pray that Sweden, Norway and to a lesser extent denmark do not qualify for big tournaments cos they would bore the pants off me.

I saw Muntari's goal and it was spectacular but for crying out loud what was guniea wearing?

Bright yellow shorts? shocking

Morocco is ripping Guinea to pieces..it really is a walkover for them like i expected..Moroccans have a lot of quality in their team..Sektaoui and Alloudi are absolutely amazing..Africa should not underestimate the Atlas lions..

Are you sure its Guinea as they played last night and I know the phrase is used as Guinea pigs but that would be ridiculous for them to play 2 nites in a row

Oh yeah. Great start from Morocco. Mark my words Alloudi will the top scorer of the CAN 2008.
I certainly hope so..btw whats the situation with him...did he sign for Al Ain?? i think it would be a shame for a player of his quality not to play in Europe..i am certain there wouldnt be a shortage of offers after the ANC

Actually I am happy to give you an apology if the tournament continues in the same fashion. :agree:

None taken. I will gladly agree that I am not an expert on African football. The vague memory I have of previous tournaments though, was that they bored the crap out of me.

I have not stated that I consider Scandinavian football to be entertaining. Far from it, actually.

great goal and a pretty good game, spoiled a wee bit by the grass holding the ball up. as a hearts fan i am caught in a bit of a quandry, you see i want to see laryea kingston play well (i though he was excellent yesterday) and ghana to do well. on the other hand if he plays excellent and ghana progress well,we will not get him back till the end of next months and then we may get tempting bids for him and i would hate to sell him
Yeah, thought he was a decent player yesterday. Some good crosses.

The African football is boring comment purely wrong.

Would also love to see Ivory Coast today, but can't :frown:. Ill settle for Mali - Benin later on.

Decided to watch the final 10 minutes of the match and seeing Nigeria was kind of depressing. They have all the talent in Odemwingie, Yakubu and Martins up there and they get one weak shot on target after Ivory Coast score. For example, in the last minute they have a free kick 40-45 yards out and instead of putting all their players in the area, and putting a cross in hoping that one gets their head on it, it is played short to Taiwo only for him to lose it.
