I see, so the all knowing god did not know that when he created people with a capacity for evil, they would do evil things? The one who knows all did not think of this?
If I was created I get to chose my lifestyle.

I can't answer that, I don't know what his Control Panel looks like.
lol

How about killing thousands of people in earthquakes, tsunamis, bacterial diseases and assorted "natural disasters"? Clearly that has nothing to do with what humans do. That's all god's work. Thanks, god.
But how do you know that too is a God's work? What if those are only a natural causes?

That can't make much sense. There is no alternative goods for water, so eventually, there might be wars for it. It's his fault again?

What if you survive a car accident, shootings, or something? What do you say then, fuck you God? Or just 'oh man, I'm so lucky'?

No, you don't. He created you with the capabilities that you have. You can't fly because he didn't make you capable of flight. But he did give you the power of evil.

But how do you know that too is a God's work? What if those are only a natural causes?
Hellooo! God is the cause of nature! If they are natural, he caused them.

That can't make much sense. There is no alternative goods for water, so eventually, there might be wars for it. It's his fault again?
No, nothing is his fault. He's not responsible for anything. You're right. Which means I also shouldn't thank him for anything, because he's not responsible.

Either you are responsible or you're not. Either he did create the world in which natural disasters kill people or he didn't. If he did, he knew it would happen - he knows everything. What's more, he could have easily prevented it - he's all powerful. On the other hand, if he's powerless to prevent it, he didn't create the world either. No wonder he's powerless.

What if you survive a car accident, shootings, or something? What do you say then, fuck you God? Or just 'oh man, I'm so lucky'?
If you survive an accident you can say "I'm glad that evolution made our bodies so resilient".

Your paramaters are incorrect IMO. We have a certain definition of merciful and you're right, according to that definition God does seem to have his sadistic sides. But you have to understand that when it comes to faith one of the basic premisses is that you cannot grasp God, you cannot understand God. Our defitinition might be imperfect.
I know, it's what snake and I were discussing earlier. It makes no sense to apply words like "merciful" to god.

@ Ze:
Sahih al-Muslim #5538 informs us:

As we were sitting during the night with Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him), a meteor shot gave a dazzling light. Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: “What did you say in the pre-Islamic days when there was such a shot (of meteor)?” They said: “Allah and His Messenger know best (the actual position), but we, however, used to say that that very night a great man had been born and a great man had died,” whereupon Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: “(These meteors) are shot neither at the death of anyone nor on the birth of anyone. Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, issues Command when He decides to do a thing. Then (the Angels) supporting the Throne sing His glory, then sing the dwellers of heaven who are near to them until this glory of God reaches them who are in the heaven of this world. Then those who are near the supporters of the Throne ask these supporters of the Throne: 'What your Lord has said?’ And they accordingly inform them what He says. Then the dwellers of heaven seek information from them until this information reaches the heaven of this world. In this process of transmission (the jinn snatches) what he manages to overhear and he carries it to his friends. And when the Angels see the jinn they attack them with meteors.”

I had that in the link in the other thread.. i thought you read it.

@ Fred: If you were a ruler... would you enforce the Islamic Shari'a? Would you bring back gender discrimination? homosexual intolerance? Allow Wife beating? Allow children beating? most of all SLAVERY? (you know Islam allows it dont you)

I think that Morality evolves with time.. Mohammed's Morality system was great 1500 years ago but not now. The claim that the Quran is eternal has made its moral advice eternal too and sadly its not.. its outdated.

should i begin citing sources?

Danish police shoot intruder at cartoonist's home

Danish police have shot and wounded a man at the home of Kurt Westergaard, whose cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad sparked an international row.

Mr Westergaard scrambled into a panic room at his home in Aarhus after a man wielding an axe and a knife broke in.

Danish officials said the intruder was a 28-year-old Somali, who they did not name, but said was linked to the radical Islamist al-Shabab militia.......................

I think Mr Westergaard and the police got it wrong. Osman didn't really want to kill Westergaard and it had nothing to do with the cartoons. He just wanted the old man's cardigans.

Why should he have prevented it?

Waiting for your answer Ze....

As an ex muslim, coming from a very religious family, who spent 7 years in saudi arabia, and the rest of my life in Egypt with the exception of a couple of weeks in canada and Turkey. You are the only Muslim that I have ever talked to who thinks Jinns are not demons but rather bacteria.
Stories of Jinns are all over Islamic and pre-Islamic Poetry... mentioned in a lot of hadith + the Quran description of them listening to the Quran... having good jinns and bad jinns.. speaking together...
Fear of Jinn is a highlight in our culture... exorcism is popular.

Why should he have prevented it?
“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?”
- Epicurus

Thats basically it..

What's the purpose of this?

I thought you were supposed to show me hadith where it says anyone who's not Muslim is going to hell.

About the hell thing, i cant do any research now cuz i am in canada... but i have a few Quranic verses in a text message i sent a few guys before.

Al Omran (102 + 85)
Al Ma'eda (17, 72, 73)
Maryam (88 till 92)
Momenoon ( 91, 92)

One was talking explicitly about people who believe in the trinity

Also found this:
"By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, there is no-one of this ummah, Jew or Christian, who hears of me then dies without believing in that with which I have been sent, but he will be one of the people of Hell." (Reported by Muslim, may Allaah have mercy on him, in al-Saheeh, 153)
