I think it works as follows, this is what I found by googling

It gives (#of Posts)/100 but that does not exceed 15.

We're discussing whether to make it more difficult to hand out reputation points or removing the feature completely. If we decide to keep it, members will not be able to see who gave them the rep points for reasons stated by me several times before.

The rep thing is a great idea and its fine as it is. It shouldnt be difficult to hand out rep, and people would be more cautious when repping someone if they know the person theyre repping can see who repped them

I agree to disagree, and have pointed out my reasons already.

If you gave rep points more value by limiting the amount you can hand out, you could also give members the right to dispute their negative reps.

A solution reported earlier I think is that you get + or - rep points only if 3 or more users agree on the post you made.

Again, that won't happen. I'm pretty sure it would create a more hostile atmosphere here.

More hostile than it already is that members get angry because they get nonsense neg reps, and members are neg repped for stupid reasons, for example Shadowfax got a neg rep because he spelled a word wrong. If the member who neg repped him knew that Shadowfax would know who did it, he wouldnt have done it

Hardly anyone would get reps then. Besides, people like to perform fellatio on their friends.

I was against the idea of reps in the first place. And I think I might have said it too. Why? The members on this board are very close to each other (as opposed to xtratime par example, where the relations between people are a bit more "polite"). That makes the general attitude here very playful and thus makes features much more ripe for abuse.

:coffee: - I own this emoticon btw.

people should just quit taking it so seriously. if you post frequently and are known then rep doesnt really matter. does it?

according to another forum who uses the rep system, the rep thing is supposed to help moderators. more negative points for a poster (hence red boxes underneath) will sort of expose moderators to posters who might be offensive etc. but I dont think thats the case because we can easily report a post to moderators..

I don't believe that, I'm doing what I think is best. The rep points stay anonymous for now, until we've decided if we'll keep the rep system or change the number of points you can hand out in a set period.

Enron, were you formerly known as Holdon? If so, why the change?

Does anyone ever listen to what I say? ;)

I already stated we're discussing this in the staff board, inbetween tea time and watching the huge amount of pornography we have stored there.

I agree with Marty. And as the Governor of California would say.

    "Quit whinning"!
