Not a very tough challenge given that as great as Di Maria was, he has never been the best at either of those things. De Bruyne for example is better at both.

Will leave it to the scouts to find the deals, we should have those instead of relying on 34 year olds on huge contracts while apparently trying to focus on youth and reduce the wage bill.

Liverpool signed Luis Diaz. Milan signed Leao. RBL signed Nkunku. Roma, and Liverpool, signed Salah. We signed Cuadrado and Chiesa. Madrid signed Vinicius. Etc.

It's not like wingers don't exist. A player like Di Maria should be a complement if anything. But we let go of a player in his prime in Dybala, of a young talent in Kulu, to add a 34 year old winger to our other 34 year old winger.

Cuadrado - Di Maria has to be the oldest pair of wingers in football.

I really hope that we sign another winger too then if we must have Di Maria, and that it's a young player.
Dybala in his prime :ciao:. Might want to look a bit further than just the age, pal...

34 year old Di Maria is more athletic and is probably still quicker than a 22 year old Kulusevski, but whatever.
Yeah it's 2022, it's not Football Manager and players suddenly become limp dicks after 33, and everybody below 25 is automatically better than them.

Di Maria as a stop gap is a great solution imo

He's a good player, definitely one of the most talented in Scotland and when he is in the mood can be really direct. His end product isn't always as good as it should be and he can disappear at times but that's typical of wingers and he was outstanding in the Europa League. His work rate/tracking back is really good too.

But he would cost over 20m and I don't think he would ever be the level we should be aiming for. I could see him going to the EPL to a mid level team e.g. West Ham/Villa.

I don't think there is any chance that Ramsey will be back at Rangers next season unless he is free and takes a huge cut on his wages.

My thoughts about him are similar. If he doesn't fulfil Juves expectations, he is young and English so easy resell to some midtable epl club.
Swapping for Ramsey is just my wishful thinking.

My thinking is that we won't sign him in the end, he won't agree for 2 year deal while we will push for it in order to get that tax law implemented. For one year he would have to accept around 5m net probably.

We will imo. Those 2-4m are peanuts to let this deal slide.

I think it’s been essentially a done deal for a few weeks now. Now it’s just a final decision on whether he wants to play here for one season or two. Either way, he’s almost certainly going to be playing for us next season.

Contact today, as expected, between #Juve and the agent of #DiMaria . Day between interlocutory and negative: no progress. We will talk about it again. #calciomercato
According to this we didn't really progress on his deal, Agresti said on YouTube he has no info on the outcome of the meeting.
