Yes a captain is a super hero who actually runs the whole football club from head to toe! Capatins are also the secretary and painter/decorator at the stadium. They also cuts the grass on their days off and sweeps the floor after every home game. Captains are fantastic!

Nobody needed to lead at Chelsea other than Mourinho. Terry, Essien, Drogba, Cech, Lampard, Gudjohnson etc are all men that don't need to be led other than to be told by a manager what tactics/formations they're using. A captain does not lead a team only a manager does.

Personally I thought Viera was more impressive at that tournament than Zidane and he was the leader there and guess what he didn't have the armband. France had players like Viera, Gallas, Thuram, Sagnol, Makalele, Henry etc. Zidane didn't have to do as much motivating as you'd like to think.
