I think both Germany and Italy were better teams. France has so many attacking players that I would probably consider playing Paul deeper. Giroud playing I don't get but every NT coach has their trusted players and rightfully so imo. Picking all the flavor of the month players hardly ever works. I like my NT coaches calm and collected.

Griezmann was in monster form, Pogba was in monster form, he compromised them both to fit in Giroud, Payet and Matuidi. thats terrible coaching in my book, add to that the weak player selection, and hes a garbage NT coach for me

People might call Deschamps dumb but there are reasons why Benzema is not involved.

You forgret something. They hardly spent under Zidane. 90% team was same as 2014 when Carlo coached. Keeper changed and Zidane promoted younger players like Asensio and Vazguez.

Zidane even refused new signings last summer. They had exactly the same XI in last 2 finals.
