Messi is the best footballer of the last 20 years, no player should be compared to him bar maybe Luiz Ronaldo who could do as much destruction as Messi can in a game

CR7 is nothing but a much better Inzaghi since he won his last 4 Balon d'or every part of his game regressed and the only improvements he made were his finishing

As a footballer he is well below average but his goals make people think he is some freak but Harry Kane just had a similar season to him goals wise and Gerd Muller was never seen to be seen in the same light as Cruyff or Maradonna despite outscoring them significantly

My top 3 that I have seen anyway is Messi, Luiz Ronaldo, Zidane or Iniesta hard to separate the last 2
Why 20 years? So who was better in um say 95?

Come back with better arguments than just insulting
Ronaldo in this period that he has won 4 balon d'ors is a poacher. You cannot put him in the same category as players like Messi, R9, Maradona etc who can change a game with a moment of brilliance. With the ball he is just so robotic and uncomfortable. From 2006-12 he was closest to that goat level but still not there.

A poacher that wins balon dors... guess that tells you a lot about Messi, when someone like that poaches awards from him :baus:
i mean if you dont think hes a poacher then you dont watch him

You also rate Sami tho so its no surprise

It's the nostalgia bonus. everything was better in the past.
There is nostalgia but you seriously do have to take into consideration that in the past sport medical shit was not at the level as it is today and football was FAR more physical. You already see how Messi can be neutralized when he leaves European pussyball and same would happen to CR7 if he left European pussyball aswell.

Those that ends all possible debates by saying it's entirely up to nostalgia are as biased, but towards this generation.

Messi and Cristiano are the best in this era where defenses suck and there's not even one great defensive team.

On a technical level many players of the past are superior to them, they are just athletic and consistent stat wise but this era sucks

Calling him a poacher or a glorified Inzaghi is just insulting. His footballing ability is way better than many of the great 'poachers of the past. Yes he moulded himself towards becoming more of a goalscorer as he got older but that hardly takes away the results he's producing for his team. This is actually a testament to his determination that despite a decline in his dribbling game is still able to adapt and be a match winner for his team.

While you complain all this while about him being a poacher you dont realize that he's in the top 2 for 12 straight years. That's just insane. That is all time great stuff.

Dont give me this shit about medical facilities otherwise we would have seen plenty of Ronaldo's today producing the same consistency that he has

Have Messi or Ronaldo ever dragged a team like Liverpool like Suarez did? Did they ever perform for their national team like Suarez did? The answer to both those is no. Suarez's 2016 season and 2014 season were as good as almost any peak Ronaldo or Messi season.

Ronaldo is able to score like he does because:
1. He has a super team. Literally the strongest on paper in the world for years.
2. His movement is probably the best in history.
He is not scoring these goals because of his ability with the ball but the ability off the ball. If your talking about Late United Ronaldo or Early Madrid Ronaldo then by all means call him among the goats. But this is not peak Ronaldo. Inzaghi is a lil far but Ronaldo for the last half decade amost is no more than a poacher and that is the truth.

:agree:

His transformation through different roles is a true testament of CR7's vast superiority over mediocre overrated bum ass looking players like Baggio. Can't wait till @Bianconero81 sees this and blows a fuse

Let's compare CR7 to Bum Baggio.
Ronaldo: 5 Ballon d'Or, 3EPL titles, 2 la liga titles, 4 UCL titles, a shit ton of cups and super cups, Euro Cup. Sex symbol
Bum Baggio: 1 ballon d'or, 2 scudetti, 1 uefa cup, 1 coppa. bum ass old man
so mediocre, this like Goku vs Krillin is not fair.

Defenses used to suck back in the day too. In fact there were more tennis/cricket scorelines in the past than today.

Let's not forget football was also a lot slower too back then. Teams generally used to play at a slow tempo.

There are pros and cons to each era
