Juventus will consider letting Marcelo Zalayeta leave the club in search of regular football.

The Turin giants paid a big fee for the Uruguayan striker, but he has never quite made the grade for Bianconeri.

Zaleyeta has now asked the club to consider letting him leave - and general manager Luciano Moggi admitted that, at the very least, a loan would be considered.

"[Zalayeta] has asked me to leave to have the possibility to play regularly," said Moggi.

"He cost us €30 million so we would probably only consider a loan and sale."

Despite his assertions, Moggi has admitted the Juve will have to sell to buy this summer - and a decent sized bid could well tempt them.

Zalayeta scored important goals for the club last season when injuries hit their regular strikers, and it is not unfeasible that someone will take a gamble on the South American marksman. Is there money to spend? There sincerely is not.

"To buy we must sell, but Trezeguet is priceless and not for sale. Only those over the age of 30 will leave.

"Why have we missed out on Gilardino? Because Parma did not put him on the market.

"The current ownership told us they would inform us and now his sale will depend on the new owners.

"We have an option him but we won't use it

Sounds like a Tribalfootball article that nobody should take seriously.

And enough of the disrespect towards Zalayeta. He has been very important for us this season, and others for that matter.

    1. Zalayeta is not "crap shit", he's a perfect 5th striker who never complains (from the tone of the article it didn't sound like his approach to Moggi was complaining either) and produces the goods for us when called upon.

    2. I highly doubt we spent 30m on him.

    3. Maybe this means we'll get Cassano and not sell Mutu, though we'll have to play on more of a rotation basis than we did with Zala.

    4. Damn I'll miss him if he leaves, but in truth he deserves better.

I like the guy. He proved to be handy several times this season. Always good to have him on the bench!

sorry gray, but when one try to play full match and rarely produce something what we will do with him, i a gree with u he is 'just' backup but not by 30m he isn't Gila or cassano or who ever worth 30m but any way i like him too but with less than 30m :D:D

Guys, how about a little more respect for Zalayeta. He is probably the best fifth striker in Europe. And to be honest, he's way too good for that position. Like Gray said, he never complains, and when called on to play, he has always done so, and at times done better than some of our star strikers. This season, again he proved to be useful with some really valuable contributions. So yes, maybe he would leave, and personally, i think he should, because he would do better for himself elsewhere. Even still, Forza Zalayeta.
