Do they not have a registry?

Cutlery is a dangerous one, as high chances of them already having what they want, or being given a set by someone else.

I would say yes to a gift card, provided it's to a nice place, or a nice set of table linens, a picture frame (can be used for their wedding photos?), or anything that someone could feasibly own more than one of and want more than one, so not cutlery.

    We're not that americanized yet over here.

    How about a cheese board set? They can use it to entertain friends when they have them over and it will encourage them to try new cheeses.

    Something like this:



    You can even get them a couple cheeses with it. Something like a chunk of parmiggiano reggiano, it doesn't go bad for months and it doesn't even need to be kept refrigerated. And you can compliment that by giving them a couple jars of spreads, like fig and honey or balsamic cherry or whatever. And a decent bottle of wine on top of that would be baller.
