And who gives a damn about what liverpool fans think?
He mentioned that because it shows how much Liverpool fans respect Xabi Alonso and demonstrates how important they feel he is to the team. Not to mention the possibility that he remains at Pool because of supporter demonstrations.

So yes, we should care what people affiliated with Liverpool think because they hold the key to his transfer here.

erm, actually they do. If we can stop juve from signing a player we don't want or selling giovinco. Then the Kopites will have a massive say at liverpool.

And btw, Stankovics WORST posititon he is he quite bad in is left wing, defenitely his weakest, in quite obvious way. He is versatile, but doesnt mean he is good there just because he has played there.
I'd say his worst is DM, but that's just me. Stankovic played left-wing among other positions with Lazio, and was good there.

I don't want to see Giovinco on the left-wing but that's what we're going to be stuck with if he even gets the nod over Nedved. Personally, I think Seba is ready to be thrown into the fire and start over Pavel, as we have to move on and get some youth in this team from the start. But even though Giovinco will be played out of position, I think he has the wherewithall and skill to play on the left, unlike Palladingo who isn't even a midfielder.

If do get Xabi it will be interesting to see how he works with Giovinco. Hopefully our left-back will be of better quality so that the Seba can cut inside and work his magic closer to the center of the pitch, which is what he naturally prefers. If that's what it turns out to be, we *should* be playing much better football than we have recently in the past. But then again, that depends on what Ranieri tells the team.

If you don't throw Giovinco into the fire he will never be a world class player, look at Del Piero, look at Fabregas, look at C. Ronaldo etc.

We can't baby young talents. They either have it at their age or they don't.

He either sinks or swims, but that doesn't mean we have to bury him if he fails at first.

It's not like Giovinco is 18 here.

Alonso move to Juve finalized?

The Mirror are reporting that Xabi Alonso will be completing his move from Liverpool to Juventus. It’s also reported that the move will be finalized in the next 24 hours.

Alonso has long been linked with a move to Italy but it appears that Juventus are not willing to pay £16 million for the Spaniard. However, it seems that both clubs have reached an agreement. More to follow.

But he only has one year of serie a experience, one year experience of top level footbal. He needs to carefuly get experience to blossom. Which means he does need playing time though.

I don't beleive the 'they have it at their or they don't' thing. Different players mature and develop their talent at different ages.

By the way, your post goes against your usual nature of being against our usual youngster policy of treating the youngsters coldly.

gio is best behind the strikers he is a classic n10 providing dazzling play and defense splitting passes not a left winger, I'm worried he won't suceed if C.R plays him on the left wing all the time.
I'm sure he will play as a trequartista eventually, but I think LW is a good way to ease him into the side without putting too much pressure on him.

I've never got the impression that Liverpool's owners give a shit about what the fans think.

If we get Xabi it should result in guys like Camo, Seba, Nedved and De Piero getting better quality service and earlier, which should give them more space.

Thay can then make things happen in the final third of the pitch.
