No info about Xabi Alonso, seems that the informer on j1897 was wrong.

I really hope we get Xabi because the alternativis is worse then getting any player at all :( Paulsen Stankovic:rolleyes:

Are we waiting on Pool to buy Barry before we make the deal?

that and maybe getting some $$$ for Tiago and Almiron.

My guess is that he'll be with the team when the 1st batch of national team players arrive. :rulz:

I just thinked about some thing,

Blanc said that the midfielder would come before the pre season (today)

Now it have been brought forward.

And the reason if you think logical can't be Paulsen, he has a clausel(10 million euro) and if we wanted he would be here already.

Stankovic is also a easy target as he is officially for sale. So a a deal would be done I believe if we had him as our number 1 target.

So my conclusion is that we shouldent worry so much about Xabi, he is going to come. But Liverpool ( and the Eurous maby) is slowing down the transfer because they are first looking to buy Barry. And maby Tiago,Almiron can be another reason.

But if you think about it, the board is only saying the best thing. Blanc can't say that we only wait on Xabi, now we can only wait on Liverpool (Barry deal) and the clubs to agree a deal( maby the already have):flag2:

Ranieri and Gigli said that they are working on more than 2 midfielders and they will strike a deal in 1 week, so let's guess who they are these 3, at least. My guess is this:

1. Xabi Alonso
2. Aquilani (I'm optimistic)

and:

3. No One, they will say they're fine with the current squad.

what you guess Mark?

Gotta love good ol' Georgie boy.

Canizares would be a dream backup for Buffon with his international and CL experience.
Canizares would be a dream backup? Why, so that we would have to call up the third string backup once that dunce drops a champagne bottle on his foot or something?

I think we will get Xabi and the suprise will be Drenthe or Aquilani
So you think we'll receive Xabi AND Aquilani? You do know that would cost us at least 50 million Euros excluding wages, right? And why on earth would we need Aquilani if we have Xabi Alonso? The latter does a better job at what we need right now anyway, which is someone who can pass the ball and already has experience at the highest level of the game - two Champions League finals.

what is this...now i'm just pissed. If alonso is holding it off i find that really disrespectful.
Settle down there, young Lassie.

So you only judge/care about the result and you are not interested of how we reached there??.
You see, this sort of mentality about not really caring how exactly we win matches really tends to bite us in the ass. Under Capello, people didn't care how we won our games in Serie A, thinking that it's only the result that matters and not the way in which we conduct ourselves on the pitch. Then once the Champions League came along, a place where you cannot screw around in two legged matches, we found ourselves playing the same crap football as we did in Serie A. And we ended up paying for it against obviously better teams who played better football. We're starting to see this again with Ranieri, something that is frightening.

In my opinion, if we want to actually achieve something, we have to play more consistent football and actually worry about how we conduct ourselves on the pitch. This "result is all that matters" notion is an oversimplified notion that, while being true, disregards the obvious problems we see with our squad.

I'm pretty sure of Xabi and maybe, I said maybe a winger like Schweinsteiger, Turan or maybe even Stankovic :mute: who can play anywhere in the mid.

And even worse than that, at least then, we really had the best squad, material-wise and this attitude was enough to help us cruise past, most of the smaller teams and score enough points to win a title.
We didnt need any optimum results to get a title,we were just using our brutal power/skill,
but right now, our material is really poor according to that it used to be
and our tactics should work wonders to make us compensate
and win smth we dont deserve, material wise!
To win a title under those circumstances, we have to be as efficient as it gets, this year we didnt "win" the 3rd place for being efficient enough,
for being as good, as we supposed to be,
we only reached that, because the other teams were as bad, as they have never been before, mostly Milan.
Unfortunately, the Italian football suffers, as a whole,
to win a high place there now is easier than ever,
but that means nothing!
The standards in Europe remain as high as they can get.
This year many Juve fans will learn, how good or bad, Juve, really is.

Hopefully, we will make the proper acquisitions, players like Alonso, Grosso and a great back up keeper would help our cause very much and strengthen our weakest points.
And hopefully they will be proved good enough!
I expect to see better teamwork and permanent/solid schemes from CR
Hell, i expect to see us coming up with a proper attacking plan for a chance,
we have the tools now
and we might get even more, there will be no excuses again!
This year will decide if CR is good enough to lead us in the next stage of our evolution...
In the CL, we dont have any realistic chances anyway... and Serie A will be much more competitive, Inter will be untouchable as ever before,
Milan will most likely play at least as good as they should,
even if they dont invest the fortune, their fans expecting to spend!
And they would also have the extra advantage, of no CL games and pressure.
Roma will be more determined to close the gap and as long as they keep their stars and keep upgrading, they are a step ahead...
If we repeat the same performances, we had this year, the same performances that seem to appease some Juve fans, only because of the fact, that some of our direct opponents did worst, forgetting how horrible we were at times,
then i am afraid that we can only do worse in the ranking board this year,
than we did last year...

Juve Meet Alonso Reps In Paris

Juventus’ bid to sign Xabi Alonso from Liverpool is no closer to being completed following a meeting between the two clubs in Paris…

The possibility of seeing the Spanish international in a Juve shirt next season is, at the moment, still a remote one.

Alonso is no closer to signing for the Old Lady after a meeting in Paris today between a FIFA agent and Rafa Benitez’s transfer man, Eduardo Macia, yielded no agreement.

The deal may take another week to complete as the clubs are looking to agree on a selling price for the 26-year-old European Champion. The two clubs may strike a deal worth €18m, a balance between Liverpool’s asking price of €20m and Juve’s offer of €15m.

Juventus are still searching for a world-class midfielder and if all goes well, fans of the Bianconeri will see the former Liverpool midfield pairing of Alonso and Sissoko re-united at Turin’s Stadio Olimpico next term.

I think it should be done very soon. Its too early to strike a deal because the player is on vacation and he doesnt want to make any decisons. Plus we should get some money from Palladino shouldnt we? So we should get him soon but not this week.

Although he is a good player: he is not a great player. In fact he is not that much better than Tiago. I feel the fuss is over warranted, as he will not take Juve to the next level, by that I mean Champions.

He may not be able to do the difference in CL, but he is experienced enough, he can cope with the rest of the time and it seems that he is the best we can do...
