You see, this sort of mentality about not really caring how exactly we win matches really tends to bite us in the ass. Under Capello, people didn't care how we won our games in Serie A, thinking that it's only the result that matters and not the way in which we conduct ourselves on the pitch. Then once the Champions League came along, a place where you cannot screw around in two legged matches, we found ourselves playing the same crap football as we did in Serie A. And we ended up paying for it against obviously better teams who played better football. We're starting to see this again with Ranieri, something that is frightening.
In my opinion, if we want to actually achieve something, we have to play more consistent football and actually worry about how we conduct ourselves on the pitch. This "result is all that matters" notion is an oversimplified notion that, while being true, disregards the obvious problems we see with our squad.
And even worse than that, at least then, we really had the best squad, material-wise and this attitude was enough to help us cruise past, most of the smaller teams and score enough points to win a title.
We didnt need any optimum results to get a title,we were just using our brutal power/skill,
but right now, our material is really poor according to that it used to be
and our tactics should work wonders to make us compensate
and win smth we dont deserve, material wise!
To win a title under those circumstances, we have to be as efficient as it gets, this year we didnt "win" the 3rd place for being efficient enough,
for being as good, as we supposed to be,
we only reached that, because the other teams were as bad, as they have never been before, mostly Milan.
Unfortunately, the Italian football suffers, as a whole,
to win a high place there now is easier than ever,
but that means nothing!
The standards in Europe remain as high as they can get.
This year many Juve fans will learn, how good or bad, Juve, really is.
Hopefully, we will make the proper acquisitions, players like Alonso, Grosso and a great back up keeper would help our cause very much and strengthen our weakest points.
And hopefully they will be proved good enough!
I expect to see better teamwork and permanent/solid schemes from CR
Hell, i expect to see us coming up with a proper attacking plan for a chance,
we have the tools now
and we might get even more, there will be no excuses again!
This year will decide if CR is good enough to lead us in the next stage of our evolution...
In the CL, we dont have any realistic chances anyway... and Serie A will be much more competitive, Inter will be untouchable as ever before,
Milan will most likely play at least as good as they should,
even if they dont invest the fortune, their fans expecting to spend!
And they would also have the extra advantage, of no CL games and pressure.
Roma will be more determined to close the gap and as long as they keep their stars and keep upgrading, they are a step ahead...
If we repeat the same performances, we had this year, the same performances that seem to appease some Juve fans, only because of the fact, that some of our direct opponents did worst,
forgetting how horrible we were at times,
then i am afraid that we can only do worse in the ranking board this year,
than we did last year...
