Anybody noticed Alonso calming the Spaniards down when they were cheering in the line to show respect to the Germans who were about to get their medals?. I hoped the commentator on Dutch Tv would say something about that and I'm glad that he did. That was just classy. He's great on the pitch and I think he's a very friendly and humble guy off the pitch.

Yeah, I have a feeling though after winning the Cup, he'll be convinced to stay at Liverpool due to the influx of Spanish players there.
Why?
Its about money and regular football, with liverpool his lost his regular spot. Spaniards isnt just enough reason to stay.

I agree. The amagement lost interest in him. We will but Stankovic.
come on... let's not be so negative about everything. We'll know next week only. Why should alonso now think otherwise because he won the euro-cup?? Come on...
I think our chances to get him are just as high as 1 week ago, and everyone was VERY positive back then! Let's not forget that we're splashing out nearly 20 millions for one player, and even if he might be worth it, i'd rather have our management think twice about such a thing than making mistakes by hurrying. That stankovic-thing hangs in the air, but we don't know how much of all this is media, and how much is really true. Stankovic is officially 'on sale' because mourinho doesn't want him. We're looking for a CM and if a proven serie-a CM is coming on the market for a relatively low price, it's clear that we're interested.
We'll see in the end. I'm pretty sure we'll know in some days. I'd prefer Xabi, but, i have to admit that stankovic is the much more rational solution. Less risk, less cost, easier negotiations, and even if he doesn't make an impact, we would have some money left to get active in the winter transfers... But what am i talking anyway; let's wait for next week, and then we can all discuss what's right or wrong.

I think he will join. Barry is getting closer to moving to Pool from what I have read and seeing how Alonso just won this cup he is at a perfect time to move to a new club as a European Champion he would get a good salary and starting spot here.

Finger crossed either way

I am negative about Xabi because Blanc these last days didnt mention Xabi he mentioned Stankovic and Stankovic is a mistake as he is in the calibre of Tiago and Almiron. If we wanted to buy Xabi we should have done that before the Euro began. And why we kept Tiago and Almiron? Because we are not buying any star players both in the midfoels and in the defence. I am seeing the team less competitive than last year because Nedved, Del Piero, Camo will be 1 year older and this will leave its impact. With this defence we will not qualify from the CL preliminary.

I am against Stankovic if it means we dont get Alonso or Whoever our big name mid is. But I would take Stank over Tiago and Almiron.

Stank is versatile and is a lot better than those 2. He would improve our team for sure.

Pool will increase the cost and Xabi will ask a high salary which we will not pay for sure.

Not mentioning Xabi is actually pretty smart by Blanc.Did Moggi mention Vieira in the media days before he signed?I don't think so.

Tiago and Almiron are still ours, but you do know that the transfer window is open for a long time to come, right? We'll get Xabi and in case we won't Secco&Blanc will have superb alternatives. And I'm not speaking about Stankovic here. When will you guys understand that Stankovic won't affect the purchase of a great midfielder who'll play next to Sissoko?

The pessimism on the CL-Qualification is beyond me.
