This pipeline will then be connected to tap into the Ceyhan-Tblisi-Baku (BTC) oil pipeline, which links the Caspian sea to the Eastern Mediterranean with a flow of crude. The BTC pipeline was opened up in 2006 and is the largest pipeline to serve Western markets in the Middle East. Our nation has practically set up a new bloc with Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Israel, securing pipeline capacity for years to come.

Which nation is right in the middle of all this, Vinni? The construction of the BTC pipeline from Baku to Ceyhan began in 2003. What else began in 2003, Vinni? The answers are Iraq and the war on Iraq, respectively.

OPEC controls the supply of crude to the world, thus they can keep the price high if they want no matter what we do to secure oil. But what the United States government believes is that it's better to pay more for oil than not have any crude whatsoever. To quote Brian Woodman from the film Syriana, "It's running out, it's running out. This is a fight to the death." We are running out of cheap extraction techniques and moving to more expensive means to extract oil due to the fact the many fields are drying up. Moreover, with the growth of China and their rapid demand increase for crude, even less is available to us.

You can also blame price gauging from American companies like Exxon. I know it has supposedly stopped, but we all know that's some bologna.

I don't know if I buy the price gauging theory. $100 per barrel oil is something that may or may not be reasonable, but the current market concerns make it a viable price considering all the problems in the Middle East. It was always going here as soon as we went back into Iraq. And when the crack spreads (financial instrument that mocks what refiners do) is being shorted during these times, it will mean higher profits for the likes of ExxonMobil.

Not that I'm arguing for this theory, but frankly you can't deny the possibility. All of what we know about what happened is based on what? What the government has told us, and what the intelligence agencies have revealed. And they have really shown themselves to be reliable and trustworthy under Bush, haven't they?

And if you're thinking about whether they're capable of killing 3000 people, let's review how many people have died in Iraq, Americans and Iraqis alike. How many people have been imprisoned in Guantanamo and covert camps in Europe and tortured? How many Americans among them? If you consider all the deaths this government has presided over, I have no doubt at all that they're capable of it if it were to benefit them in some powerful way.

Some economist said the other day the Iraq war will cost 3 trillion dollars. Now let's ask ourselves how much Halliburton, Blackwater and all the other shady contractors have scooped up since 2000. How much of those 3 trillion have been spent on weapons and equipment, money lining the pockets of companies who produce this stuff? It's like friggin Die Hard 3 only a thousand times bigger.
