It's not WWIII, but Cold War II that is edging closer. And in a way I'd say it has already begun. WWIII is impossible because any global war would be the end of our planet as we know it. There is no such thing as a controlled war on a global scale. If for instance the US would either lose or have to resort to WMD's, they would do the latter. That means that WWIII is impossible (no one will be willing to simply destroy half the planet and setting off the apocalypse), but that Cold War II is possible.

yes, i was thinking that too. everyone can see it, Russias dominance of gas going into europe and their growing hostility seems like they are looking for a fight.

I don't think it ever ended you know. As soon as you can make nuclear weapons you're in a Cold War scenario. Yeah, a lot of them were dismantled, but so what? When it really comes down to it, there are no rules in war. There are rules as long as one nation is stronger than the others and can enforce those rules. Nuclear weapons destroy that balance, but offer another one: the one of a Cold War.

Reagan. And if anything ended it sure wasn't thanks to that lunatic. But I get what you mean. In my opinion it's simply a time of crisis that was ended. The principle of Cold War as such was not ended and never will be, for people can make nuclear weapons.

I'm not a soldier. But I know many and my family are full of them. You really have no idea what being a soldier is about. Soldiers sign up to protect their country no matter what. They don't chose their battles or where they go. They protect their country during the best of times and the worst of times, there are no sunshine patriots in there ranks. A soldier follows orders and does his job to the best of his ability and for that reason he is respected. If you must hate, then hate on the government there is no reason to pick on the soldiers especially when you know so little about what they do and what it is to be them.

Look man i don't hate only your country but all the countries of the world even mine because their role is to control their people, demagogue them and finally lead the against other people. Your country receive the most hatred, because is the current Imperialist-Empire of Earth. Before you there were British, Romans, Greeks e.t.c. and all of them were doing exactly the same thinks as you - and maybe worse. The role of all the Empires, from Alexander's the great era till today is to "divide and govern" and your empire knows this very well. Me personally i am against of any empire whatever is it. And my country also sends occupational armies in Afghanistan, Kosovo and maybe Iraq. If some soldiers refuse to join there, they put them in jail. This is how you serve today "your country".

I highly doubt Russia has destroyed any true stockpile of weaponry. The United States has provided Russia with millions to destroy their warheads, yet at the same time Moscow says they're broke while they have been building a "secret" underground military base that supposedly costs about a trillion dollars. This underground fortress is so huge it's been under construction since about 1990 and it's still not finished yet.

Putin and the like say they're dangerously broke, yet have enough to build a mysterious base worth billions. Go figure.
