England will win this thing. International football is weak though. Really think a team of Tottenham's quality would stand a chance had they been in it. Even the traditional big teams are just meh. Hoping France would knock out England but who knows.
England winning the cup again in Qatar? Who says colonialism is dead?

Let's keep coming the suprises...

Tier 1 teams are weaker bar a few cases but honestly I love how small teams are owning tactically the games. I always thought that the tecnical gap would be the first to reduce

Japan have some good players and collectively have been technically sound for years, lots of players at a similar level. They also have better defenders than they've ever had. Keeper is still a weakness though.

So it's a surprise but not a huge surprise for me, not like Saudi yesterday. Germany have been a bit hit and miss for a while.

Japan invest on their young and talents and Their development start academically from Basic teams(u 17). At the club level, they are the finalists of the Asian Club Cup almost every year and have the most championships both at the national and club level in Asia. In the past(20 years) Iran's football was ahead of them but now our football level is too far from their level. from my point of view the level of Japanese football is beyond of Asia, and If they were in Europe they would capable to to qualify to World Cup.

England are due one. They can't keep choking. Also the other teams are really weak atm. I really think it's their year. Hopefully I'm wrong.
With the WC, having a "softer" path to the more challenging head-to-head matches is a massive plus. They have that.

The question will be whether they don't wilt when faced with stronger opposition than Iran.

That's like saying gravity can't keep pulling people towards the Earth.

It's true, because in 4 billion years the Sun will explode and swallow the Earth whole. That doesn't mean it will happen right now though.
