Always find these sort of statements about Asamoah amusing.

If Juve had signed someone who was considered a wing back and did as well as Asamoah has done, there would be no debate about the position and people would see Juve as set at left-back/left wing-back for years to come.

But, no. Because he started as a midfielder his ability on the flank will relentlessly be callled into question.

See the same thing in the Aberdeen support with an obsession with 'natural full-backs' because we've frequently played players who are really centre-halves there over recent years. No suggestion that we could actually do much better with someone who is seen as a natural in the position, but that doesn't stop people banging on about it.
Spot on. It's crazy and unquestionable for those guys to try and convince otherwise.

I think it'll take more than 1 or 2 times to prove Asamoah has what it takes to be our LB.

Marchisio played the RW quite decently, should we start him there too?

:sergio:

He plays LWB EVERY GAME for Juventus and is solid defensively so its probably natural to assume he can play well at LB.And he did have a decent game against Madrid where he was up against probably the best player in the world.

That Marchisio at RW comparison is way off, infact its really stupid.

Cuadrado and Litch on the same flank in a 4-3-3 :tuttosport:
Litchsteiner is the most under-rated rb, I can't think of many that are better than him.

Edit: Actually, vidal would also be on that flank. :tuttosport:

Playing as a LWB and playing as a LB are two very different things. If Asamoah makes a mistake, he has 3 CBs waiting to clean up his mess.

I'm not saying Asamoah can't do it, but I think his ability to be a LB is just as much in the air, if not more, as a kid like Murru. We need to see Asamoah more in the LB spot to make these assumptions.

But apparently its enough to prove Murru has it, right?
Murru is a native defender, and a native leftback. Asamoah is not.

Lavezzi would be perfect for a 4-3-3. Experienced, proven in Serie A, doesn't need the time to adjust to the league and language plus he already played in a 4-3-3. Not to mention he should arrive at a decent price.

Im all for this.
