I think in order for a tactic to be successful it can't rely on a single piece. Playing Mata as AP or Pirlo in DLP isn't changing much on that front. We need options and depth. That is exactly why our B2B mids are getting so much praise in Europe now. It might turn out to be the case that they look brighter here than they actually shine themselves... and we need to consider this possibility seriously. The same line of thinking should be applied to all the positions. Rarely have we seen what those players can do out of their confort zone.

that's not true and our CL form shows that. If we persist with this current system we need wing backs that offer a better end product, or at the very least purchase a winger or 2 for tactical flexibility.
