No Tevez isn't a winger. Jovetic has great technique, passing, first touch, dribbling, creativity and flair. What he also has is amazing finishing. For that reason he's played at SS. He could be played at AM/treq given his skills.

I never understood the temptation to play skillfull, creative forwards deeper in midfield. You mentioned the Italian NT playing DP as a #10, also people wanting to play Tevez and Jovetic both forwards in a 4-3-2-1.

The only time I could imagine Tevez not playing as a striker would be as an inside forward à la 4-3-2-1.

We can perfectly play Coman or Pereyra as cam in a 4231. We dont need an expensive tevez stand in

Its time to look forward, and not purchase players who arent fitting into the 4231, especially when we allready got options to replace them when suspended or injured

But not really with this. We haven't seen enough of those 2 players to simply say they'd be good CAMs.

Tevez is so resilient against injuries, its not neccecary to get an expensive backup, who is VERY injuryprone

Its the only winger formation with 4411 that is competitive today, unless you have a squat like madrid, and even they play more organised to hide the blatant weaknesses

Jovetic and Tevez in the same team doesnt work. He is far to injury prone. His clinical finishing was quite a while ago.

SS and am/treq is a very different role.

Tevez could do it. Jovetic cant.

We may field the formation but next year. Or this year, maybe, if we sell Vidal.

I still don't understand how can we decide witch players we need when we don't even know what formation/s we are playing.

If we are planing on keeping the 3-5-2 then what we need mostly is a CB, a good one.
If we are going to change to a 4-3-1-2 then it's obvious, we need a TQ (Isco, Pastore or whatever).
If we want to use 4-3-3 we need at least 2 more wingers, and thats even if we consider pepe and coman to be wingers.

The only reason we should go after Jovetic is if we wanted him as a back up to tevez in the 3-5-2.
He is not a TQ and he is not an origianl winger. Much like Tevez. This deal doesn't make any sense.

Same goes for peryera. He is simply a CM. I can't see him at TQ or on the Wing at all.
At this point and going by our purchases this summer (Romulo, Evra, Peryera, preffering morata over a winger) I think we are going to keep the 3-5-2 for sure. Maybe switch to 4-3-2-1 of sorts, with peryera or coman playing around the box.
