Pogba and Pirlo came for free. Tevez was pushed out of City. Getting Vidal was huge. I love every single one of those transfers.
But that's not even the point here.
Many members were saying how we can afford big and sign a top player. Those names don't count since you have to wait for their contract to expire. Majority suggested how we can sign a world class player, a game changer. Majority thought signing player like Sanchez was realistic. It's those names... players that are in club but attainable. When we fail to sign those (...if we even attempted) then people make comments like yours how we signed Tevez, Vidal, Pirlo and Pogba. Yeah, we did. But that has nothing to do with my argument.

Then maybe the majority should temper their expectations a little bit. And is 42.5 million for one player, given Juve's business model (at this present time, subject to change with the improved TV and Sponsorship revenue starting next year), a player who is 50/50 as to whether he is one of those game changers that you speak of, the way that Juve does things?
Is that the way that Juve did things in the past? Of course not. Things won't change now. This club is funded and run by a corporation, where winning is nice, but the bottom line is nicer. They would love to win, sure, but not leverage themselves with a ton of debt in the process. I'm not saying that I agree with it, but I understand. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that with all of the net spending that Juve have done in the past 4 years, that they were one of the clubs who were NOT sanctioned by FFP.
Now imagine if they got hit with fines, what would have happened to this club. Conte would have left 2 months ago, instead of 4 days ago.
They will spend. I believe that they will,. When the money is there, which I hope is next year due to the aforementioned financial windfalls coming their way, the club will allow more money towards not only the transfer budget, but more importantly, the wage budget, because that is where I think that things get tricky. That's why I also think that it is smarter to get younger much sooner rather than later, as the salaries can be controlled a little longer. I mean, it's not as if Marotta and Agnelli get to keep whatever they don't spend of the transfer budget.
But hey, that's me. What do I know
