Ranocchia tempted by Juve. They offer better wages than inter. - Laudisa

Seriously, wtf is it with Conte's fetish for Ranocchia? You can find players like him in Serie B with your eyes closed.
I ask myself the same question with Bonuccci, so it makes sense with Ranocchia too. Must be his Bari days...those are his boys I guess.

Ranocchia +Bonucci was a great duo with clear strenghts that synergised so well, they erased each other weaknesses.

The only issue, like many times with italians, is that they shine in a specific system, and outside that, its alot less.
Think Zambrotta at juve, and at barcelona.

Ranocchia is a beast in anticipating and 1v1 in close quarters. He's pretty agile, quick and aggressive, but he's a slow runner. He's pretty bad in open space.
If you have well organised defence playing as a unit, and a defender that covers the space behind him, ranocchia suddenly becomes a monster.
Add to that his ballplaying capabilities and great aerial skills (wich we sorely lack tbh), and you see why conte wants him

Example :Chiellini and bonucci on their own, are average. Then you add barzagli who brings a brain to the defence, and suddenly you got potentially the best central defence in the world.

Conte is a master tactician. He has a different approach from the blatant idiot mazarri. Mazzarri never bothers that much with his defence. Plays ranocchia like a stopper without backup. Because he wants to get his fancy system in place.

Conte doesnt do that, he molds the system to get most out of his players, with an eye for perfect balance and organisation.

I'm confident, if Conte wants Ranocchia (conte must believe in the player), that he can let him play as if he was Montero, with twice the size, and half the lunacy/red cards

@Dule90

How do you rate Savic?
I used to rate him pretty high, at least when he was at Partizan. At City he was quite disappointing and I can't say I followed him enough at Viola (I just heard he's doing very good). Would I take him ahead of Ranocchia? Easily. :D

Oh seriously, have many times have you watched Bari games?

I simply have no idea where you got this from. From his games at Inter? Because, at Inter, he was total garbage ever since he arrived, and he didn't show half of what you described here. Their fans want him out as soon as possible, rightfully so.

- Upcoming days will be crucial when it comes to Ranocchia. He has to make a final decision. There are two offers on the table - first one from us and second one from Inter (LGDS).
- Udinese really want Zaza, but it doesnt mean Zaza wants to play for them... Rossi is the player 100% convinced to move there but Zaza hesitates (LGDS).
- Our main mercato target is still Sanchez. Conte allegedly has contacted with Alexis recently and he tried to convince him to our project, however, there is still difference between our offer and Barcelona demands (TS).
- Galatasaray are interested in Fabio (TS).
- Janmaats agent admitted that both Napoli and Juventus are interested in his client.

Tbh, he was great for Genoa, didn't see him much in Bari, but 2010/11 just before moving to Inter, iirc he played only half a season there, he was looking pretty good. Hyped as one of the best young defenders in the league. If he can regain that form and I believe that in the right environment he could, as potential is there, Ranocchia might be very useful. Most players in current Inter squad haven't managed to perform to expected levels, he can't take all the blame for defensive lapses, when there's chaotic situation and complete lack of organization on almost every level there.

And that's exactly the problem. After Cannavaro and Nesta retired, every player is tipped to be amazing, yet all of them end up being average. I've seen the same story when Criscito appeared, when Astori appeared, when Bonucci appeared, when Ranocchia appeared and probably most recent name - Ogbonna. Every, and I mean every, name that has popped out from the new generation was tipped to be a new Nesta, a new someone. Of course the point is not even to compare them, but those players are just average at best. You say Sanchez has played 2 good seasons and it's not enough to be a top player. Well, Ranocchia doesn't even have 6 months, there's just that 'potential' that we keep hearing about. Not only that they are not good, but Italian defenders hold a laughable value at the market and IMO it makes no sense buying one at this point.

Hey, Ranocchia might end up to be a good transfer in the end. But that would be a surprise, just like Barzagli was. Simply because there's nothing that indicates we should be relying on him at the moment. Some might say that we'd take him to be a back up and that's fine, but many also forget that Barzagli is 33 year old right now. 'Replacing' him with either Ranocchia or Paletta (who looks better) makes no sense.

Actually, many times it was his mistakes and it had nothing to do with lack of organization.

Lack of general organization, Inter is not stable environment and for a youngster that might be detrimental. Consider how many coaches they have changed since Mourinho left. You're too harsh man, give it time. I've never believed that player can suddenly forget how to play football, lose his talent, but he can perform worse in different environment, one not suitable either for his character, or one that doesn't use his set of skills, but are exposing his weaknesess.

I like Paletta btw, in a 4 men defense he'd suit us better than Bonucci.
