Since barcelona left the 433 path, nobody plays a true 433 anymore at the big stage. They all use modifications using the wing base, but try to find ways to hide the weaknesses of 433.

Thing is, every single team you'll find that does this, mostly has their best players on the wide area's. Wich is essential. A winger formation only works properly, if your wingers are amongst the 4 best players of the team.

At juventus, is completely impossible to achieve this. We have excellent quality in the central axis. If we'd sacrifice that for wingers, it would be inferior, as the wingers we can realistically get, are much less good then our central players, who now play inferior roles to support them.



So its eighter pogba and 352 for the time beeing, or no pogba and wingers.

He's basically trying to get around the pathetic lack of holding midfielders, by trying to shove an overdose of offensive talent in the team.

yeah i agree, you know what pep wants in a 'defender' someone that can bring the ball out of the defence, luiz fits that bill whilst he is able to play in midfield too. Mourinho isn't too keen on luiz and not forgetting they already have zouma lined up for next season. I just find it incredibly hard to believe chelsea will sell one of hazard or oscar to raise significant funds, unless of course they really are looking to revolutionise the team and not just adding 2 or 3 decent/great players

Madrid do all kind of wierd stuff, but both ronaldo and bale are more wingmidfielders then forwards, they kinda got a block of 4 that is freeroling over the place. I dont like this tactics, but ancelotti is trying to solve the mess that is real's midfield

PSG uses 2 clear holding midfielders, with verratti/pastore in front. Its kind of the typ of 433 that is still viable. But considering the workrate of lavezzi/cavani/lucas, the line between 4213 and 4231 is very very thin. PSG is showing how 433 evolved to 4231 in modern football in a way

That 15 mil, is taking in accound we lost CL revenue, so the max fee on a single player should be lower compared to last season

It can't be a downgrade if you retain your best players and add Nani Joe

We won't be playing 4-3-3. Nani isn't consistent enough, and Cerci isn't good enough to justify a change in formation.

I am all for an injection of pace and more creativity, particularly for Europe.

I actually enjoy the way Roma play; it is quire refreshing.

I don't think we'll drop Llorente.

And the way Pirlo is playing and how easily he is being marked out of the games (apart from the free kicks) I'd rather make it a 4-2-3-1 / 4-4-2.

Not sure how Vidal and Pogba would play in a two men midfield though, it would limit their attacking power.

I would argue that an awful lot of teams that are currently described as 4-2-3-1 are playing a system that would have been called 4-4-2 ten years ago.

If you have a forward rather than a midfielder as the trequartista in a 4-2-3-1, there really is very little difference in the systems.
