This is simply not true. Tevez will move closer to Llorente, Coentrao moves higher up the pitch but Asamoah is still there in a deeper position closer to the left wing in front of Chiellini and near Pirlo. Besides you have 3 defenders right there: Chiellini, Barzagli and Licht because when Coentrao is attacking Licht can't go too much forward.
I think it's exactly the opposite. In the 4231 you need the real wingers because you have just 2 CMs which is not enough. In 433 you have wingers much higher up the pitch which would suit Tevez much more than in 4231. It's not like now Tevez doesn't drop to wings at all. Tevez and Oscar are way too similar to play together and none can play on the wing of 4231.
In 4231 you have no place for Pirlo as well.
Then we disagree about the wingers. But every 433 that was ever effective (that i can recall) worked like that, while there were succesfull assymetric 4231's
But well, like Dule said, a switch to 4312 would make more sense as it accomodates Pirlo, Tevez, Llorente and Oscar in their preferred positions. AND we could also get nani and have him as a backup to Tevez.
IF we'd want, we could play 442 with oscar and nani wide when we cant to hardcounter a team. or 4231. Yeah, oscar isnt a natural winger, but alike asamoah, he has the required abilities. He works very hard, is pretty fast and has amazing technique and ballcontroll. Think of Iniesta playing RW at barcelona, not ideal but it makes the formation work.
So like this, we change to 4312 and have the possibilities to go wingers. When Pirlo decays, it takes 1 good winger to switch to 4231.

what do you guys think of Giovani dos santos? he has not made it at Barcelona and spurs when he was 18-19 but now at villareal has really stepped up. he is a SS that can play either wings and he is still 24. 10g 7 assist this season.
