Stop mentionning the bayern game, we have made a huge improvement since.

Its irrelevant that they have overlapping fullbacks.
if you crowd and domminate the center, they'll have a difficult time reaching those flanks, and one of the cm's and cb's will allways aid the wingback.

The only situation when it becomes hard, is when you got the best player in the world on the left flank, who runs 100 meters under 11 seconds on grass, and a nearly as fast and very talented aswel Di Maria on the opposite side. Then you simply play a back4 because you dont have the pace to keep up.

If you bother looking up, thats exactly what conte said when we played madrid. He changed the formation cause he knew we'd domminate the center and interrupt their gameplan, but knew that they were that much faster then our wingbacks, that is was a huge risk. so he played a back4

He means doubeling up. As in the wingers go offensive and the fullbacks join them, creating a 1v2 against the wingback if your coach doesnt protect that from happening
there you go. this is the reason why need a back four for Europe. with teams with overlapping fullbacks you creat a 2v1 situation and for this season we are not able to play our own game with the 352. 352 requires the wingbacks to be stretching the defence our but when wingers defend and fullbacks defend it's hard to do that. with a more coherent style of play like the 433 of roma or 4231 of Dortmund where the moves and passes do most of the running for players, then we can trash players and teams like Copenhagen. A limited 352 with very predictable moves just doesn't work especially in europian competition.

FUCKING LEARN TO READ FOR FUCKS SAKE.

Seriously, i dont give a rats ass about how you are repeating your bullshit.

I just fucking explained you why a 3-5-2 with equal talent can totally hold its own against any team, but because madrid has the best player of the past decade, and a world class winger on their wings, conte decided not to take the risk and fielded a back 4 TO neutralise their playstyle and impose ourselves down the center.

Conte could have totally went 352 if he wanted. But a more cautious and defensive formation was needed against madrid

If we can work on our approach to small matches, this team can definitely go places. I mean, Real Madrid are arguably the best team in the world and we stood toe-to-toe with them in the CL. What kills us is our approach to matches like Copenhagen, Galatasaray, and Nordsjaelland. We have so much more quality than these times and its like we always play on our opponents level. If we can fix that over the summer, we'll be great. :)

we need to neutralise every team's playing style and impose us through our centre not just real Madrid. in Europe everyone is going to give 100% and we cannot risk anything.

that doesn't come through formations only, attitude, personnel, actual game plan contributes to that too. 4-3-3 isn't going to neutralise every team style or any formation for that matter. I'd rather we played a formation that suited the team's balance like the 3-5-2 than to move around a couple of players thinking that it will turn us into world beaters when it will do more harm than good.

that's 100% true and I think conte is the man that prepares all of that. Give conte some quality players that can play a more suitable style of play in Europe and will qualify for top 8 every single year. and considering the massive revenues we got last year from CL, we must make sure we qualify for top 8.

The 352 can perfectly do that. Madrid was merely an issue of speed

could it be that alot of players have reached their maximum (both mentally and playing-wise) with us? could we use a reconstruction (Im not talking about the starting XI + the 3-4 important bench players) of the team? so keeping the core of 14-15 players and add about 6-7 new players to the bench to refresh the team a little bit... :boh:

We need a back up midfielder, a back up lwb, an attacking mid/winger, and invest in youth. We don't need much, obviously the depth could be more useful at this point and we can tell by the recent run of games with the players looking tired.

Pereyra, Lulic, Cuadrado/Teixeira :D, and youth ofcourse.

i think in the 3-5-2 our midfield (especially Licht, Asa, Pogba and Vidal) has to run really much. thats why good backups are very important at these positions (and besides Marchisio and Isla we dont have any). our starting XI is really good, top5 in Europe i would say. but when you want to give some rest to Vidal, Pogba or Asa (or some gets injured) we have to play Marchisio (will probably be used more as a Pirlo sub) Padoin and Peluso and thats not good enough comparing to ther top 5-6 teams
