Unfortunately for us, 3-5-2 is weak against 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3

Let's look at some teams who use one of these formations

Barcelona
Real Madrid
Bayern Munich
Chelsea
Dortmund

Now, the odds of winning the CL without bumping into either of these teams are too low to consider. People know how to make us suffer now. The sooner we move away from a 3-5-2 the sooner we can progress. Unless we change formations by using average players.

I'm not convinced at all by our formation when teams press us properly, or target our flanks

Luckily for us, we're in a league where a vast majority of teams see the name 'Juventus' and decide there and then to sit back and take their chances parking the bus. Some teams literally do not put an ounce of pressure on our back 3 as we pass it around. When teams get at us however... it involves some disgusting tiki-taka equivalent between Buffon and the back 3.

Ah! There he is. I was looking for your posts over the past 3 pages Rakib. You haven't been posting enough, in arguably your favorite thread :D

As for the CL, the best team doesn't always win it. A favorable draw, a lucky bounce or two, and we can find ourselves in the semis. We just need to build a solid team (with sufficient depth) to contend.

completely agree, a solid, organised team is what we need. we need to learn the movements in a 433 position like the CF dropping to suppot midfield or when the box to box midfielder can push into the box for penetration etc..

given that dimaria, cuadrado, griezmann are too expensive I saw we go for Nani/Cerci, Menez, and a whild shot at Berardi. Berardi could be gable but if he steps up he could be a really good deal.

Next season I want to see 433 and 424 (to rest some midfielders)

i really doubt the knowledge of some people here. this formation talk is bonkers. players make plays, not the formation. Fans would love to have it any other way, but sometimes its pretty simple. eversince rakib tried to explain that a 352 is only good with cavani and its too defensive, it showed something about bis knowledge. pirlos beard showed the same football intelligence a few posts above.

Soooooooo...........................

Allegedly, RVP is desparate for a move to Juve now.

Willing to forfeit a £10 million bonus in the process.

Allegedly.

So it doesn't make any difference whether you play with 6 attackers or 6 defenders? The who is close to the goal will always have, statistically, the better chance of scoring. Real Madrid, Bayern, Barca all very offensive formations, all score tons of goals.

It's always possible to concede goals. Italy will do everything they can not to concede but they fail to score i the other end. Last Euros Italy had individual players who made the difference (Pirlo and Balotelli)

You talk about football knowledge on one hand, yet you also talk about how the starting XI is the only thing that matters. So formations don't matter, the amountt of defenders, midfielders and attackers mean nothing and Coaches should not be paid because they clearly can't make a difference, as it's all 100% down to the players.
