Just on Verratti:
What exactly makes him a defensive liability? I mean I haven't seen a lot of him play outside the national team, which isn't very often, but he never struck me as awful defensively. I remember when people would mention him as Pirlo's replacement I would always think of it as weird since I thought of him as more of a defensive player, with no where near the creative tools that Pirlo has. My understanding is that Verratti is a solid passer, but his ability to put the ball on goal from range seems limited.
But when you look at his defensive stats, they seem ok.
He's average 2.7 tackles, 1.7 interceptions, 0.5 blocked shots.
Compared to other defensive midfielders it's relatively solid.
Now that being said, you clearly can't draw conclusions from stats alone and since my experience watching him is relatively limited, I wanted to ask those who say he is awful defensively to explain why he is so bad?
Also last thing:
If Juve buys Osvaldo for 20 million, I will lose it. There is no way he is worth that. For 20 million + funds from the proceeds of Giovinco/Vucinic you could probably buy Draxler or another talented young attacker.
