So If Agnelli said it will take us 5 years to only get close to that level does it mean it will take us 10 years?!
TBH, to get even near the current powerhouses levels... it can very well take more than 10 years.

First and foremost... we need to continually do good in the CL every year...participating in big QF or semis clashes and turning heads. Also continue winning serie A, or at leats ebing in the top 3 every year.
Secondly, we need to find much better sponsors and marketing deals. IMprove our stadium income and product sales a lot too.
Third, the league needs to step up and go up some levels to attract viewers. The Milan trany sisters, Napoli and Roma need to continue being competitive for that to happen.

It can very well even not happen. Or you can take a shortcut and let the team be bought by an oil baron and to hell with the Agnellis. Not sure if that would be wise.

The thing is, if we don't spend money to elevate us, we're not going to catch up at all. Because by the time we have better finances the likes of Vidal may very well have left and we'll have to spend 3 seasons spending like mad just to try and bridge the gap a bit.

Really we should be at a point after 3 successive titles and 1 season making more money from the CL than any other club in Europe, where we can add one top player to our squad whilst shuffling the bench around a bit. Nobody expects us to spend like Madrid, but we don't need to. The spine of our team is World Class and we're only missing a couple of additions. Additions which should be affordable by now.

Juve back in the race for Drogba -Gdm :frown:
Didier Drogba and Juventus are close once again. The directors in charge of Juve's transfer moves continue to follow Drogba's situation closely, they scouted him in Bosnia During the Ivory Coast match. Juventus believes's acquiring Drogba would be a good move, despite his high wage demands and his advanced age. Juventus is pondering options as they are still interested in Real Madrid's Morata, but Drogba is a concrete target.

I don't think we'll go for a buy back clause at all unless it's ridiculously high.

Because if Morata isn't that good for us we're 20M down. If he is great, Madrid might come calling and take him back in a couple of years which would be ridiculous. I hope we get him but not on Madrids terms.

Fuck Morata.

Check the polls @ Madrid blogs, forums. The majority want to sell him. Why the fuck should we be interested in a player the fans or the team does not want?

Who wants something that is unwanted...

Fiorentina will redeem Cuadrado from Udinese and sell him for the best offer they get. Juve & Barcelona are among those interested (via GdS) :D
Viola were very patient with us last year in terms of making an offer for Jovetic.

I would be surprised if they showed the same amount of patience again this year.

I can see Cuadrado going 25+ million easily

Well Barca using the Sanchez money alone from whichever PL club buys him can comfortably outbid us

So 2 unlikely things need to happen.

Fiorentina must agree to sell him to Juve

Cuadrado must opt to join us instead. If Barca really do want to play him as a RB he may well want to play for us in his actual role. But it's still not going to happen.

Who are we kidding, we can't outbid any top 3 club in the top 3 leagues.

Juventus, insertion for Janmaat. Napoli is an advantage -Sky

Not only Naples on Daryl Janmaat, Feyenoord's right-back class ' 89. Despite the acceleration that the ds Riccardo Bigon is trying to give the negotiation there is insertion of Juventus.
According to Sky, the ds bianconero Fabio Paratici will monitor him live during the friendly Netherlands-Wales.

They probably want to sell him because they're like Juve fans and don't give a crap about young players. They want Suarez or somebody better than Benzema. It doesn't mean Morata is a poor player, plus Real fans are morons anyway.

Sky - Gianluca Di Marzio: "Fabio Paratici will see Netherlands-Wales to study Janmaat"

As for the exterior, Paratici has left this evening for a European tour and Wednesday will see Netherlands-Wales to study closely Daryl Janmaat, right outside of Feyenoord. Janmaat is a player who would like to take the Naples, has followed him, he's dealing with. Paratici But if you go to see it, it is likely to give the final blow to this potential transaction. player costs between 8 and 10 million Euros "

There's no such thing as a Madrid reject with the odd exception

They have the resources and the pull to buy whoever they want in any position bar a handful of players. So it'd take a damn good 21 year old to impress Madrid enough to warrant staying over a renowned World Class player.

How does that mean anything ?

Madrid makes big name purchases allmost exlusively. Unless you are Raul, they dont give a crap about youth, or when you are a defender, cause they cant care less about defenders.

Morata didnt perform as good as Neymar in his first senior season ? Sell and get Suarez

Thats the mentality they have. Their opinion means nothing.

Everybody at Madrid from the Prez and the fans to the fucking Janitor expects immediate Success. FFS Bale and even Ronaldo were being slated not so long ago

People with a never ending transfer kitty and 0 patience aren't going to give two shits about any 21 year old striker unless he can score 50 a season.

I agree with what both of you are saying. However, in my opinion (which in hindsight means nothing) I don't believe Morata is a good player. He was frustrating to watch in the CL Finals.

Looking at his stats, he only scores when Madrid are already winning by more than 2 goals. http://www.whoscored.com/Players/91213/Fixtures/lvaro-Morata

If we do sign him, I wish him the best and I hope he can grow into a WC player with us.
