Yeah but my point is they're ultimately being forced to sell their best players which doesnt speak highly of them.Last year's Dortmund was prime Dortmund and i dont think you can expect them to be challenging in the coming years even though they've done well this year.Harsh reality for some of these clubs.Limited budget and good scouting can only take you so far.
Yeah, no doubt about that. Losing Gotze was a huge blow for them but so will be losing Reus and Gundogan. They will have plenty of cash but it will be very hard to stay competitive on such level.

I don't think we're much different. We're on the edge of selling Pogba I think and we can never rule out Vidal's departure. If that happens we're pretty much screwed.

If we're changing the formation this summer is going to be vital for us. If we end up buying bad wingers we're totally screwed IMO.

Yup.And like you said in one of your posts many of our key players are OLD.It will be hard to find quality replacements without a sizeable budget.

Barzagli,Buffon,Pirlo, soon we'll have to replace them all.

I don't think Dortmund is doing particularly bad, though. Sure they are second, but like they have a chance against this Bayern. In CL they have reached quite a lot this year IMO. I agree about PSG but I think I'd add Monaco there as I expect them to spend big in the summer and become quite competitive.

As for Italian teams I totally agree.
They are second but they are 23 points behind.

While we're at it I think we're making a huge mistake by offering Pirlo a 3 year contract (if true). He's a gem and I love the guy, but fielding him also brings negative effects and it will only get worse. I'm disappointed if we actually offer him that contract and 4mln/season, that just means we're not getting anyone in at least 2 year on that position. As for the others, yeah, it's quite scary. It's also scary how important and great Barzagli is... and we're seeing us trying to get Ranocchia and Paletta. I have no idea why don't we try to invest in a great CB because we badly need one. Bonucci is not good enough and Chiellini has been fragile lately, although I'd like to see him in 2 man defense.

They've done well in Europe, unlike us.

But it's not even fair to compare us, Dortmund came out of nothing, what they did and what they still do is a miracle. Their budget was always awful, it was all great scouting and good kids arriving.

Would you guys like to see this squad?

Buffon

Licht - Barzagli - Chiellini - Coentrao

Vidal - Pirlo - Asamoah

Hamsik

Llorente - Tevez

I'm curious if the trio would work.

Rugani from empoli is really showing some poetential and could break into the 1st team squad.

Leali is really talented and I recon after some serie a experience he can be fit for the job.

in terms of replacing pirlo I wopuld like to see marchisio as a anchor man more and maybe we should buy another flexible midfielder or wait to see how marrone develops.

Our financial situation should be better in a couple of seasons with new deals and projects etc.

But yes it's worrying that our squad is quite old.
It could be worse though, we have a few promising youngsters on co ownerships. Reports of 25 million on Mandzukic. That is a waste of money imo we need to move away from the 5-3-2 and we wont do that with buying more 28 year old + strikers for big money and wages.

hes 24. he cant be considered a young unproven player with room to grow anymore. players at 24, and even younger, are already main players in their squads and you want to wait for a 24 year old to see how he develops. he can be a sloid bench option for us at best...
